My name is Nick and I’m a veteran and master carpenter with decades of hands‑on experience. "Excellent service which provided outstanding results.  Computer was running so slow my wife wanted me to buy another computer.  Using Angies List I was able to find this company who I called right away.  I made arrangements to drop off my laptop on Friday night and was able to pick it back up Sunday afternoon.  Took it home and it runs just like the day i bought it.  James loaded virus protection software which works better than the software I bought.  Very goodexperience, i will use him again.

Windows questions, answered by experts

Window screens can help keep some heat out of your home, which is one benefit of using them in summer. It’s also the reason experts suggest removing your screens in winter—so it’s easier for the sun’s warmth to filter into your home. This will keep you cozier and potentially reduce your heating bills.

Bifold windows work by using a track that allows panels to slide to the side and "stack" so they take up minimal space, leaving the largest opening. The sashes connect to each other with butt hinges or concealed hinges and to the window frame with the same type of hinges you’d find on a casement window. Some manual bifold windows also have casement stays or another piece of hardware to keep your windows in place when they’re open.

Windows with muntins are slightly more expensive because you’re paying for more material, but the cost shouldn't be that much higher since most muntins are fake on modern windows. You’re looking at a cost between $25 and $100 more per window for muntins, depending on the type. The only exception is if you want custom muntins to match your home style or meet your personal preference. Most manufacturers will charge more for these as they can’t mass-produce them. Windows with true muntins are rare, and they’re much more expensive upfront and over time if you ever need individual glass replacement.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, low-E windows can reduce energy loss by 30% to 50%. But the actual effect of low-E windows in your home will depend on many factors, like climate, number of windows, window treatments, and more. In terms of aesthetics, you may or may not notice a difference in how your windows look or how much natural light shines through. But overall, low-E windows look very similar to traditional windows.

Glass block windows aren’t fire hazards; fire-rated glass block windows can increase your home’s fire safety. Modern glass blocks are made with materials that can resist high temperatures and prevent fire spread. Most offer a 45-minute fire rating, while some increase it to two hours. Compared to the typical 20 to 90 minute rating for a double-pane window, glass block can increase your home’s safety in the event of a fire.
