"As a mobile home owner of decades, I know how difficult it can be to find someone familiar enough with the industry to trust my home to. CC&M is a wonderful company. They are professional, reasonable with pricing and schedules and they are able to offer in-house financing, which is sometimes necessary with mobile homes. Once my children were out in the world, I wanted some major renovations to my home. Mike came out, went over everything and discussed options. In the end, I contracted CC&M to remodel my kitchen, my bathroom, my hallway, my bedroom, add a master bath, add a new laundry/utility room, replace heat-tape and upgrade some of the electric. From beginning to end, Mike and his crews were amazing. They are attentive to detail and their work is exsquisite. I had never done renovations before, but CC&M made me very comfortable with the whole process. It's been a month and a half since the work was done, and I couldn't be happier. My friends and family compliment me as soon as they walk in. As far as I'm concerned, if you need work done, CC&M is the company to call. Thank you for bringing my home back to life. You guys are the best!!"

"Need tenant to move out before work can start. Hoping for at least one more bid to make sure the cost is effective. Surprised you charged them $80 for your service (I feel sorry he paid that much if I use someone else). Pictures of work he does looks like he is very capable of replacing my deck."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

No, it isn’t necessary to skirt a deck, but investing in the cost to install deck skirting can bring more value to your home. Not only does deck skirting make the deck look more complete, but it can also turn otherwise unused space beneath the deck into useful storage space.

Most building codes require that railing spindles (also known as balusters) on decks or stairs be spaced no more than four inches apart. This safety standard is often called the '4-inch sphere rule,' which means a sphere with a 4-inch diameter should not be able to pass through the opening between balusters. This rule is in place to prevent small children and pets from slipping through the railing. For the same reason, the space between the bottom rail and the deck or floor surface should also be no more than four inches. As a general guideline, professionals often install three balusters per foot of railing. However, since specific requirements can vary by location, it is essential to check your local building codes to ensure compliance before starting your project.

Ultimately, overapplication of stain can compromise the deck's appearance, durability, and longevity. It may result in an uneven finish, with excess stain pooling, dripping, or drying into thick patches. It can also obscure the wood's natural grain and texture, detracting from the desired aesthetic. Moreover, excessive staining may not fully penetrate the wood, leading to poor adhesion and premature wear. Additionally, thick layers of stain are prone to peeling, cracking, and blistering as they struggle to bond with the surface.

Yes, but ensuring the deck has a solid foundation with adequate footings is critical before building, as the weight of a sunroom will put significant pressure on the structure below. Even if your deck is properly constructed, it may not be able to handle the extra weight. While some basic, lightweight, prefabricated sunrooms can sit on a deck with a strong existing foundation without additional supports, in many cases, the foundation and joists will need reinforcement. It is always best to have a structural engineer perform an inspection to evaluate the deck's quality and structural integrity. A professional can help you decide if reinforcement is sufficient or if it's better to tear down the deck and start over.

A quality, well-maintained PVC decking can last 30 to 50 years. It’s known for being one of the most durable types of decking materials, with composite decking having a 25- to 30-year average lifespan and some softwood deckings only lasting 10 to 15 years. Luxury hardwood decks like Ipe may last longer than PVC decking, but they can cost more and require more maintenance.
