This last year I have expanded my crews and found some quality craftsmen in more areas of home improvements. We start, we stay, we finish.

"The majority of it went well. The crew and Rick worked the project and cleaned up afterwards One of the skylights still leaks and a trim piece was left off of the front roof. It is still not finished even though we requested several times that they put the piece on. It's only about a 4 foot piece but it remains unfinished. Picture is available."

Most of the time, you’ll want to use screws on your subfloor rather than nails. Nails can actually weaken plywood, whereas screws can easily penetrate without damage. They also form a more secure connection because of their shape, preventing squeaky floors and tightly holding the subfloor in place. That said, some contractors do prefer nails depending on the type of floor covering because they allow for more flexibility.

Yes, joists are considered structural, as they support the flooring or roofing above them and help distribute the load to the beams, which, in turn, distribute that load to weight-bearing walls or foundational supports directly below them. Joists not only help distribute the load evenly to your beams, but they also provide direct support to the subfloor in flooring systems, which helps reduce creaking and the risk of uneven flooring.

Regular sealing, repainting, and checking for wood rot or pest infestations help maintain longevity.

Modern brick houses are really stick-built homes with a brick facade for aesthetic purposes only, so most have framing. With genuine brick construction, most homeowners install furring strips over the interior of the brick and then install drywall over those strips to cover the brick wall, so they don’t have traditional framing.

While most house creaking is expected to some extent and under normal conditions, it's not a good idea to ignore new noises. If other problems accompany the creakiness, like cement cracks, wobbly or loose stair components, or moving trimwork, it's time to look into the potential for foundation trouble or other structural problems.
