"We needed to replace our entire HVAC system. JP Works came in with the best price for a quality product. We are very happy that we selected them. This system was installed promptly. The work was completed in one day. The technicians that did the installation were both professional and informative. I give this business five stars."

"The appointment was made within 2 days of contacting them. The technician (Brian) was punctual for a 7:30 am appointment. Once there, Brian did a fantastic job of communicating the services that he was performing and kept me very informed about the status of the AC system. He found some issues that had been previously overlooked by former HVAC technicians and provided me with a very detailed understanding of what the outlook for my unit should be in the future. I noticed an immediate improvement in the cooling of the house as well as the air quality. I can't thank this company and this technician enough for being so professional in the way they conduct their business. I would recommend them to anyone in need of HVAC service."

"I met with about twelve hvac contractors as my project was a large job that included two systems and duct work. I met Erik last and he was the most straightforward person and did not try to up sell me. He painted the picture of what he would do and was confident in his proposal. When the work started it was smooth and detailed. Erik and his crew answered my many questions which helped me feel more confident. Overall a wonderful experience and value for your money. Erik included many items that other companies did not which helped the end product look and function better. Thank you!"

"I would give MORE stars if I could. Service was excellent. Greg arrived at the appointment time, was clear about what he would do and how he would do it. He was very clean in his work. He removed all duct covers, then began the cleaning. I had some issues with the antibacterial disinfectant (allergies) he would be using. He advised I could research it and let him know. He even allowed me to smell the disinfectant. We did use it and the smell was very mild and dissipated in about a half hour. After cleaning the duct work, he returned all the duct cover and cleaned up his work area. He worked by himself and had the job done in under 3 hours. And the price was fantastic, coming in at over $150.00 and $300.00 less than 2 other bids. If you're looking for duct cleaning for your HVAC system or dryer (he did that, too!), The Duct Pros are where you want to go! Thank you Duct Pros!"

Small jobs welcome

"Justin arrived on time, and asked me a few electrical related questions about my house before he statrted. I have interacted with many electricians and HVAC contractors in my profession as a field engineer, and I'm here to tell you Justin and Wentzel are the real deal. I plan on using them again when I do some other electrical stuff for my home in the future. Labor and material rates are very reasonable, and the quality of work is excellent."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

On average, an AC unit lasts between 10 and 20 years. However, the specific lifespan depends on the type of unit, how often it's used, the local climate, and the quality of maintenance. Central AC units typically last 12 to 17 years, while window units have a shorter lifespan of 8 to 10 years. Portable AC units last about 5 to 10 years, and ductless mini-split systems can last up to 20 years. To extend the life of your AC unit, it's important to perform regular maintenance, such as replacing filters, cleaning coils, and scheduling annual professional tune-ups.

No, heat pump maintenance needs are very similar to air conditioners, including keeping outdoor units clean, changing filters regularly, and occasionally scheduling a refrigerant check to see if any has leaked out. Heat pumps typically switch automatically between heating and cooling, so you don’t need to worry about manually changing them every season. However, since they are always on call, they can develop wear and tear faster than an air conditioner.

Traditional central air conditioning systems require ductwork to circulate air throughout the home. Alternatively, you can add air conditioning with a mini-split ductless air conditioning system, which can be just as energy efficient as a central air conditioner. This type of system consists of two units–an outside unit that holds the compressor and condenser and an indoor unit that holds an air-handler. With multi-zone ductless systems, there are multiple indoor air handlers tied to a single outdoor compressor/condenser, allowing the system to cool multiple rooms.

You should use a breathable, weather-resistant cover with ventilation. It can be a top cover or a full cover that has mesh to allow airflow. A full, non-breathable cover can cause moisture to build up, leading to rust, frozen parts, and corrosion. A full cover also attracts unwanted critters, such as mice, that can damage the wiring and your unit. If you need to protect your AC unit from falling icicles, choose a sturdy top cover or piece of wood that prevents icicles from damaging your unit.

Running an air conditioner with mold is not safe because it can spread harmful mold spores throughout your home. Exposure to these spores can trigger various health problems, including respiratory issues, allergies, coughing, wheezing, sneezing, itchy eyes, and a sore throat. It may also aggravate asthma in household members. Continued exposure can increase the risk of more serious illnesses like sinus infections, pneumonia, and bronchitis. If you suspect mold in your air conditioner, you should stop using the system until it has been properly cleaned to avoid health risks and further contamination.
