"We've decided to go with TLK, but haven't actually got the job done yet. Will get back when job is finished. 05-07-10 The job is finished, we had a few glitches with weather but everything was done on time & in a professional manner. The days the job couldn't be done Tim showed up in person & explained why. He kept us informed of details & we actually got on the roof & inspected the job ourselves & are extremely pleased with the outcome."

"AB did great work at my house. I hired him to tear down my dining room wall to extend my kitchen, install new kitchen cabinets and re route my drainage/water lines to my new sink location and finish all carpentry/drywall of the project. He was very professional with great prices and intelligence of the trades."

Trampoline Assembly questions, answered by experts

It may be tempting to DIY the construction of a swing set to save money, but we don’t recommend it. Since children will use the swing set, the entire system must be solid and safe, meaning the cost savings aren’t worth potentially endangering them. Plus, most DIYers will have to build their swing sets out of wood, which won’t last as long as metal or vinyl and introduces the risk of splinters. Instead, hire a local playground equipment installer to ensure the swing set is built safely and efficiently, setting up your kids for fun for years to come.

Choosing a suitable backyard playset that’s age-appropriate and entertaining for your children is worth the cost. A backyard playset you can update and upgrade as your kids grow offers even more benefits. Although a playset won’t substantially increase your home’s value, it won’t negatively affect it either.

Children can become interested in playset activities as young as two years old, and many start to lose interest between ages nine and 12. Backyard playsets can grow and adapt as the children age and playtime interests change.

The average cost to install a playground is around $500, with most homeowners spending between $150 and $1,200 on installation labor. The total project cost can range from $500 to $2,500. These prices typically do not include the playground equipment itself, which can cost an additional $100 to $1,500.

Several factors influence the final installation cost:

  • Playset Details: The type, size, material, design complexity, and number of accessories.

  • Site Preparation: Costs may increase if the land needs to be leveled.

  • Yard Accessibility: Difficult access for installers can raise labor costs.

  • Customization: Custom-built playgrounds are more expensive to install than premade kits.

  • Permits: Local permitting fees may apply.

Additionally, remember to budget for playground surfacing, which can cost $15 to $160 per cubic yard, or up to $225 per cubic yard for poured rubber.

It’s usually possible to install a playground yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Playground construction can be complicated and involves moving large, heavy, and bulky components into place while you affix them to other pieces. Not only is the work physically demanding, but any mistakes could reduce the lifespan of your playground and potentially put any children who use the equipment at risk of injury. It’s relatively inexpensive to hire a professional playground installer, and it’s usually worth the investment, if only for the peace of mind it provides.
