"Terribly. These guys really had no idea what they were doing. They have some "minor" things to finish up and have disappeared. Will not return text messages. They left ridges and low spots and spaces where water will freeze and crack asphalt. Paid the $16000. Half way through paving said that they calculated wrong and with they would put a thinner thickness or I could pay for another truck of hot mix. Cost me another $3000! I'm an idiot not having checked out their work with other customers. Only thing positive is that they were real nice guys."

Overall, a paver driveway is considered the easiest to maintain because homeowners are able to do driveway repair one piece at a time without impacting the rest of the driveway. Unlike paved options, paver driveways contain individual stones that aren't physically connected. It’s naturally permeable, allowing water to drain straight through—with no risk of pooling or surface damage. Gravel driveways are one of the most affordable, at $1 to $3 per square foot, and can also last upward of 100 years.

You can expect your asphalt pavement to last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, or 25 years on average. The life expectancy of your asphalt driveway depends on the climate, the amount of traffic, and how well you maintain it. While you can’t necessarily control some of these factors, you can control the amount of maintenance effort you put into your driveway. 

To prevent your asphalt from deteriorating prematurely, you should follow a good maintenance routine involving regular cleaning, reparation work, and resealing.

Gravel driveways are significantly more affordable than asphalt driveways, making them an enticing financial decision when choosing your next driveway material. On average, gravel driveways are $5.75 to $13 per square foot cheaper than asphalt driveways. 

It's not just their price that makes gravel driveways more economical. Gravel driveways also can last up to 100 years with minimum maintenance, whereas asphalt driveways only last for 15 to 30 years with proper maintenance. But if you’re looking for the best driveway material for cold weather, asphalt may be a better choice.
