Ensure there’s a way to flush out excess water from the generator. There will either be a bin you can pull to dump water down the drain or a simple button if your generator is hooked up to a drainage pipe. 

 Ideally, you’ll want to drain after every shower, but there will be a mark on the generator that shows how much water it can hold. Failing to drain the generator can lead to automatic shut-offs or damage.

Any drain in your house requires a water trap to prevent sewer gases from entering the home. Dishwashers don’t have an internal water trap, so they must use an external P trap. The most convenient P trap for the dishwasher is already in the plumbing under your sink.

Installing a new sewer line costs between $50 and $250 per linear foot. Most sewer line insulation projects and up costing around $3,500 on average. Just how much your drain line will cost depends on the length of the pipes, the type of piping material, the depth, and any obstacles that may be in the way. For instance, excavating and working around trees or boulders will increase your costs.

In most cases, you can’t connect to an existing sewer line, but this is specific to new builds and additions.
