"A tenant was moving after many years and kids going through the teenage years so it was in bad shape. Jose and his crew came to the rescue and completed a refurb on the unit. The work included replacing 7 doors with frames, 3 double closet doors, new carpet in bedrooms, new LVP in other areas, wall repair, window replacement and painting the entire unit. They did a great job and when I found an issue later Jose came right over and fixed it. Since then I have hired Jose to do additional work on the property (a 4-plex) including a partial refurb on another unit. In fact Jose is currently getting a unit "rent ready" while I am unable to be there myself. I highly recommend Mount Zion Construction because I have come to trust Jose and trust is very important to me."

Hardwood Flooring questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible for small areas. Professional installation ensures proper stretching and a polished finish.

When it comes to linoleum versus laminate, the better choice depends on your personal needs. Linoleum tends to last longer but is more difficult to install. Laminate is less eco-friendly and less durable, but it is easy to install without a professional.

Both options come in a wide variety of styles, but many prefer the look of laminate. Laminate and linoleum are affordable flooring options compared to hardwood or tile, but laminate costs less at about $0.70 to $2 per square foot.

In a wet room, you need a floor that won’t sustain damage with constant exposure to water, but your options are normally the same as with a bathroom. Ceramic and porcelain tile are suitable options, as are natural stone like granite and marble, much like in a standard bathroom. Since a wet room’s floor is more likely to be wet, you should choose a flooring option with some texture to reduce how slippery the material gets.

Installing carpet over carpet may negatively impact the resale value of your home. While it offers a quick fix, potential buyers may view it as a temporary solution rather than a long-term investment in quality flooring. Properly installed and maintained flooring adds value to a home, so removing the existing carpet and installing new flooring may be a better option to attract prospective buyers and maximize resale value.

Carpet installers use furniture sliders or blankets to protect your furniture during the installation process. They handle each piece with care to minimize the risk of damage. Additionally, they may employ techniques such as lifting and shifting furniture rather than dragging it across the floor to prevent scratches or other marks. If you have particularly delicate or heavy items that need to be moved, discuss special handling with the installers beforehand.
