Boring (also known as directional boring) is one alternative to trenching when installing underground utilities. The main difference between directional boring versus trenching is that boring doesn’t require digging or disturbing the surface. Polyjacking can be a suitable solution for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is normally only a good option for non-structural concrete, like sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and concrete driveways. However, polyjacking costs much more—as much as $25 per square foot, compared to the maximum of $6 per square foot you’d pay for mudjacking.
