Our History He and I Construction, Inc. originated from the aspirations of Al Alfaro and his wife Lucille in March of 1995. After working for a construction company from the late 1980's through the early 1990's, Al decided to enter the construction business with the help of his wife Lucille. "This was the absolute worst company to deal with. A week without hot water, close to $600 lighter and 2 trips from 2 different plumbers from this same company, we are no better off. Neither plumber that came out spent longer than 5 min with the tank and the office got rude, defensive, and combative when asked legitimate questions why they didn't do the recommended service or make it right. I called the manufacturer of the hot water tank. They advised a whole list that should have been done to diagnose the issue to which not one was done on either trip. With 4 school age kids in the house that need hot water for baths, boiling water for dishes ECT it's absolutely hard. I'm frustrated and hurt. I feel like I have been taken!!!I called this company to convey to them that they have not made it right and I was taken. They told me to contact the manufacturer and hung up,I did and that was their mistake.I will be contacting my bank to see where I stand! Beware! They take advantage of people!"

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

It’s generally safe to stay in a house that smells like sewage, but you should get the problem fixed as soon as possible. In most cases, the level of sewer gas you’re exposed to in a home will be low enough to only cause minor symptoms, though high levels of gas exposure can be more dangerous. If you’re smelling sewer gas in your home, it’s important to locate, assess, and fix the problem, because it won’t go away on its own.

No, you typically cannot use metal detectors to find your sewer line. Most sewer lines are made of non-metallic materials such as PVC, clay, or cast iron, which are not detectable by standard metal detectors. Metal detectors are designed to locate metallic objects, so they won't be effective for identifying the path of a non-metallic sewer line. To locate your sewer line accurately, it's best to use other methods.

The cost to unclog a sewer line is between $200 and $600, with the average homeowner spending around $380, depending on the severity of the clog. It can cost as little as $100 to snake a small clog, but you could spend up to $1,600 if you need to video inspect the line and hydrojet a large clog.

Some experts estimate that descaling your cast iron pipes can extend their lifetime by upwards of 50 years, although there’s not a lot of research to prove it. But we do know that without proper maintenance, cast iron pipes can quickly rust—leading to more expensive issues like burst pipes or main line clogs.

Grease buildup, tree roots, and foreign objects often cause blockages. Regular maintenance prevents major issues.
