"Excellent.  They returned the rooms to their condition prior to installation.  The cleaned up so well after themselves that we wondered whether they had actually been in our house, then we looked at the new carpet.  Excellent family business, multi generational, courteous, helpful, good problem solvers.  Would definitely  use them again, and would recommend them without reservation.
They were not the least expensive, but were the best."

"Nick Anderson did a very good job repairing our carpet where the dog tried digging to middle earth to hide from thunder storm. Clean, respectable guy, had all necessary tools and fixed a few other carpet issues. I hope he gets back to me about a flooring upgrade."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction and friction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls. Additionally, if a fall does occur, carpet offers more cushioning, which can lessen the severity of an injury. While hard surfaces can look great, they are often more slippery. However, it's worth noting that some carpets, especially if they are new, dirty, or have a slick texture, can also pose a slipping hazard. To improve safety on any type of stair surface, you can add traction treads to increase grip.

Yes, nylon carpets are suitable for homes with allergies due to their hypoallergenic properties. Nylon fibers are resistant to mold and mildew growth, minimizing allergen accumulation in the carpet. Additionally, nylon carpets are often treated to repel moisture and stains, further reducing the risk of allergens and promoting a healthier indoor environment for allergy sufferers.

Yes, laying laminate over carpet may void the warranty of your flooring. Most laminate manufacturers specify installation over a suitable subfloor, not carpet. Deviating from these installation guidelines can invalidate the warranty. You should stick to the manufacturer's instructions to ensure warranty coverage, and you should always consult with professional laminate flooring installers near you if you have any concerns or questions regarding installation methods.

No, thick carpet padding isn’t necessarily better than thinner padding. The appropriate padding thickness will depend on the type of carpet and the amount of foot traffic in the area.

For example, thick padding works well in low-traffic areas, like bedrooms, where you have soft and plush carpeting. However, thick carpet padding can damage low-pile carpet, which is used in the busiest parts of your home (like hallways and entryways). For that reason, it’s best to use thinner, heavier padding underneath carpet in high-traffic areas.

Carpeting has a few benefits on stairs in addition to being a cost-effective floor covering. It absorbs sound, dampening footsteps. It also provides additional traction, which is especially important if you install linoleum floors, epoxy flooring, or any other floor covering that can become slippery if you’re wearing socks. Therefore, carpets can help prevent slips.
