"Willy and his wife soft washed/power washed our house yesterday and did a fabulous job! We will recommend his service to anyone who is looking for someone to wash their house or building. Our house had not been washed in about 7 years and came out sparkling. The awning over our front door was covered in algae and dirt. He power washed it (with our permission) and it came out so nice. Yes, you can pressure wash with just water. The force of the water alone is often enough to remove dirt, grime, and debris from many surfaces. However, for tougher stains like grease, mildew, or algae, adding a detergent or cleaning solution can enhance the cleaning power. Be sure to use the appropriate nozzle and pressure settings for the surface to achieve the best results without causing damage.

Concrete does well with a number of cleaning agents, as it’s a durable material. Choose from acidic cleaners, alkaline cleaners, and pH-neutral cleaners, in addition to antibacterial solutions. Your best bet is to simply read the fine print with your preferred detergent and make sure it mentions concrete as a viable surface. 

If you’re using water pressure above 2,000 PSI, you should wear a full face shield—at 4,000 PSI, a water jet can easily slice through skin. Always wear heavy-duty, waterproof gloves and rubber boots with metatarsal guards. If you’re working with hot water, make sure your gloves are insulated.

While it can be a good idea to learn how to pressure wash brick to remove oils, algae, and debris from the surface, pressure washing isn't a good option for getting rid of white stains on brick. While you may get good temporary results, pressure washing can actually make efflorescence worse once the brick dries because the process pushes salt deeper into the brick. In addition, the intensity of pressure washing can damage brick.
