"Willy and his wife soft washed/power washed our house yesterday and did a fabulous job! We will recommend his service to anyone who is looking for someone to wash their house or building. Our house had not been washed in about 7 years and came out sparkling. The awning over our front door was covered in algae and dirt. He power washed it (with our permission) and it came out so nice. (We were ready to order a new canvas awning but now it's not necessary.) Thank you for recommending Double K Contracting to us. They are great people who do fantastic work and are so nice."

Pressure Washing questions, answered by experts

While it can be a good idea to learn how to pressure wash brick to remove oils, algae, and debris from the surface, pressure washing isn't a good option for getting rid of white stains on brick. While you may get good temporary results, pressure washing can actually make efflorescence worse once the brick dries because the process pushes salt deeper into the brick. In addition, the intensity of pressure washing can damage brick.

Pressure washing your home or fence can make a major difference in the appearance and may even help extend the life of the structure you’re cleaning. Some of the most common areas that people pressure wash around their property include:

  • Driveway: $100–$250

  • Patio: $100–$200

  • Fence: $150–$300

  • Gutters: $50–$150

  • Roof: $450–$700

  • Siding: $150–$1,400

  • One-story house: $150–$750

  • Two-story house: $400–$1,400

  • Three-story house: $700–$1,800

It’s not necessary, but you can absolutely use soap or detergent when pressure washing your house. Washing with a mixture of soap and water will ensure your siding is spotless when you’re finished. However, in many cases it is not necessary to use soap and you can still achieve a powerful result without any product.

It takes about 15 minutes per each side of an exterior house to apply detergent and 15 minutes to remove it, so you’ll need roughly two hours for the whole job. However, that length of time may decrease or increase depending on the size of your home, so always budget a little more than expected to ensure you don’t end up rushing to get it done.

Costs depend on surface material, level of grime, accessibility, labor, and required cleaning agents.
