"Marketplace Homes has managed two residential rental properties for me, and everything has always been very easy. They coordinate showings, negotiated rent with tenants, and hired contractors as needed at each property. I would use them for any rental property I have in the future!"

"It was excellent. I couldn't be happier with work and the crew that did the work. They were very fast. I was very impressed with how tidy their work is. Very clean and very nice people too. The owner even came to my house to see the progress and he was so professional. He really made me feel like I made the right decision in choosing Quality 1st as my roofing company. If you need a new roof I highly recommend Quality 1st Roofing & Construction. You won't be disappointed."

"The owner, Jeff, came out himself, made helpful suggestions and assisted me in picking a color for the roof. The workers were always on time and considerate of my work hours. The work was done on time and if you have ever had a roof taken off and another one put on it was likely that you found nails all around your home. I did not find even one nail, that was great for my lawnmower!"

Custom Home Builders questions, answered by experts

Start by researching local contractors with experience in cottage construction. Ask for references, check licensing and insurance, and review completed projects. Compare multiple bids, making sure each includes the same scope of work. A good contractor will communicate clearly, provide a detailed contract, and ensure all work meets code and safety standards.

While some highly experienced homeowners can frame a house independently, it is not advisable. You will need ample carpentry experience, a team of helpers, and professionals to sign off on your work to meet local building codes. For the safest outcome, we recommend buying or building a house with the guidance of professionals.

Builder-grade is one of two types of stock cabinets, whereas semi-custom designs allow homeowners some control over the color, finish, or hardware on their cabinets. Stock cabinets are sold in construction-grade and builder-grade designs. Construction-grade cabinets are usually made from inexpensive medium-density fiberboard, which is prone to moisture damage, whereas builder-grade models are a step up with higher-quality materials. Construction-grade designs are the most common type of cabinets in America.

The most significant expense when building a barndominium is constructing the metal shell, which includes the roof, doors, and windows. Additional exterior components impacting the overall cost include metal siding and the concrete foundation.

Local regulations dictate how big an ADU can be, and there may also be restrictions on the percentage of the main residence’s square footage an ADU can have. In most cases, an ADU must be smaller than the main residence, but check with your local building authority to confirm restrictions on ADU size.
