"Josh and his crew from Mr. Miller Concrete did a fantastic job of removing our 20x40 inground pool. The communication was great and the entire crew was extremely nice and did all that we requested. Although the work was delayed due to weather they were excellent, and I would highly recommend them."

"After getting about 10 quotes from different area contractors, I selected MTZ Construction to tear out and replace a retaining wall along the back of my property. I was impressed with the professional quote I received with accurate measurements taken and discussing different options/price points for multiple quotes in order to arrive at the best plan for what we had in mind and our budget. Once completed I then requested additional quotes to replace my crumbling privacy fence that ran along the top of wall, and to clear a swath of overgrown brush behind the new retaining wall and the edge of my property. All projects were especially difficult due to the lack of access to the location of the wall (cul-de-sac property with near zero property line, and a concrete subdivision owned wall at the back end restricting access. It required a lot of manual work in place of using machinery. MTZ did an amazing job! Extremely hard workers on this team! They were professional, showed up on time, worked till 7:30pm most nights and even came on a Saturday to finish one of the projects. They were very pleasant during the process, they were respectful of my property and were careful not to tear up my grass or disturb my neighbors. They even cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day! I originally hired them for the wall only but their work was such high quality and prices so reasonable that I kept negotiating more and more work in addition to the original project. I highly recommend them for any landscaping project you may need. I will use them moving forward for any and all projects that come up within their scope of expertise! (...and have already recommended them to my family and friends!)"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

The best landscape edging tool depends on you and your needs. For homeowners who are looking for a budget-friendly edging material, plastic might be the best option for them. However, homeowners who want a low-maintenance option might opt for concrete or brick. Since there are loads of gardening edging ideas, decide what factors (maintenance, style, or budget) are most important to you to help you narrow your choices.

Buying plants from a nursery is one thing, but ensuring that they are properly planted is another. While you might not need to hire a landscaper for every plant that you buy from a nursery, it’s a great idea to have their expertise and experience to plant larger items, like burlapped trees or specialty plants like rose bushes. Even better, before making a trip to a nursery to buy new plants, consult a local landscaper to test your soil for pH levels, soil texture, and phosphorus and potassium levels to help determine the best plants for your area.

The best time to plant a privet hedge is autumn, ideally October or early November. Fall is the best time to plant privet hedges because young plants need plenty of water to jump-start their growth, and it typically rains more during this season. However, you can also successfully plant privets in the spring.

While there are over 400,000 different flowering plants worldwide, there are five main types of flowers. These flower types are based on their lifecycles, giving each type a unique personality. These types are:

  • Annuals, which complete their entire life cycle within a single growing season.

  • Perennials, which the tops die off in the winter but regrow in spring.

  • Biennials, which complete their entire life cycle within two years.

  • Hybrids, which exhibit either annual or perennial behaviors depending on location

  • Flowering shrubs, which are small to medium-sized perennial woody plants, such as shrubs or evergreens.

In addition to aloe vera and lilac, other effective humidity-reducing plants include peace lilies, Boston ferns, English ivy, spider plants, and lucky bamboo. These plants thrive in humid environments and can naturally lower moisture levels. Place them in areas prone to dampness for the best results.
