[Member Name Removed], You are absolutely correct that the project took way longer than it should. That coupled with the few loose ends that needed to be completed has certainly given me the grade I deserve. I must sincerely apologize. I never intended for it to play out like this. I can say that I have learned my lesson with respect to the subcontractor I had doing this. There will be no additional work for him from me. JDService Provider Response
We are very sorry that your experience was not satisfactory. We were hired by another firm as a sub contractor. When hired, painting was not part of our scope so we have no idea who was promised at the onset. It was only after we began the project assignment, we were asked to paint if possible. We agreed and sent one of our crews in to paint the cabinets. Unfortunately they did a terrible job and lied about the process of application to the customer and us. As soon as they were "done", the paint began to peel. We fired that crew and brought another crew in. They started over from the beginning by sanding down all of the poor work. They redid the painting, properly this time. The end result was of the quality that we all expected the first time. As far as the "bait and switch" comments, we cannot comment on that as that was between the customer and the other firm that hired us. Additionally, the promise of JD Staley as the daily site manager was never established by us, that must have been the other firm that hired us. We did have a site manager who was there actually doing quite a bit of the work. As for the length of time promised (4 weeks) again that was the other firms promise. There were four factors that did protract out the overall time of this project: 1) The aforementioned issue with the initial paint crew. 2) Upon opening the wall that was to be removed, an unknown cold air return and the entire upstairs wiring was found in this wall. It required completely rerouting both and changing the framing of the original plans. 3) The customer added several items along the way such as changing to a farm house sink from an under mounted (after the granite was measured), light locations, adding under cabinet lighting, and 4) the final selections of finishes were not finalized prior to beginning the project and were done during the work so some materials could not be ordered prior to the project starting. We worked with the customer to accommodate these additions, unforeseen issues and the painting issue. At the end of the day, the project turned out phenomenal and we believe exceeded even the customers original vision. We are terribly sorry for the poor performance of the painters (who no longer do any work for us), but everything else went well considering the change orders and the unplanned re-routing of utilities.Service Provider Response
We are terribly sorry this did not turn out the way either of us desired. Yes we were hired to paint the interior and was given a deposit. We discussed with the owners their thoughts on color and at the end of the conversation, they agreed to have us select the warm neutral color since this is what we do. We purchased new paint from Sherwin Williams in a color and sheen that we use in many homes that are going to be sold (like this one). We began the project as always by spreading tarps, prep walls, then get the first coat of paint applied. The next step would have been to go back and touch up any imperfections in the walls since the first coat will highlight these defects. After the first days work we were contacted by the customer and told that they despised the color chosen and that it should have never be used on their walls. We offered to meet with the customer and have them choose a different color. We did and before starting to complete what was obviously a far from finished product, we were not permitted to begin any additional work. We offered but were refused. We are sorry for the customers displeasure. We made every attempt to satisfy the customer by meeting with them, allowing them to choose a color of their liking and completing the work. In the end, we did not charge any additional monies, only their deposit, and left all the product for the homeowners. They also kept some of our equipment.Angi Certified
