"My mother is elderly and needed her basement dried after flooding from heavy rains. The insurance company recommended Dry Patrol out of Carlisle, OH. They came out and met with my mother, myself, and my husband. They stated it would be $2500.00 to do what we needed done. They also told us they would reduce it by $500.00 if we took up the wet carpet, pad and removed all baseboards, which we did this. The total bill should have been $2000.00. My mother paid $1,000.00 up front and the rest was due upon completion. We called on a Friday during normal business hours. They couldn't come until Saturday. They charged us for "weekend/after hours" and yet it was on THEM that they couldn't come on Friday. Their equipment was old, they didn't have the correct extension cords to support the equipment (as admitted by their workers), and the equipment kept blowing the circuit breakers. Every time this happened we had to wait for them to come back and re-start everything. Keep in mind they charge you for the amount of time you have their equipment. They charged almost $200.00 for masks/gloves as this was when Covid was first shutting down businesses in mid March. Never did I see their employees wear any masks/gloves. They also charged approximately $600.00 to supposedly clean their equipment due to Covid!? Never saw them do this either and the equipment was dirty. After waiting for a final bill, expecting to pay the last $1,000.00 Dry Patrol sent a bill to my mother for approximately $5,000.00!? Upon calling to verify this bill and state this was NOT the agreed upon amount of $2000.00 the man became nasty and told my mother he would mark her as not paying and turn her into collections!? My husband called them and the man would not return his call. I checked their reviews on Facebook and found multiple other complaints against their company regarding billing practices and the fact they don't return phone calls. Ironically all of their reviews on Facebook have been hidden by them as it is their page and they control what they want people to see. That speaks volumes. They don't have high marks on the BBB review section either. They clearly are trying to take advantage of my mother who is 77. We were all present when the man gave the quote, and yet they billed her for almost 3x more than agreed!?! CONSUMER BEWARE!!!!"

Visit us at http://www.drypatroldayton.com/ When you have water in your home, you want it gone — now! Water creates problems very quickly and must be addressed immediately to stop further damage and expenses. But quick response isn’t enough. It’s equally important to make sure your water removal and cleanup process includes thorough drying to prevent mold and other problems. We address water damage everywhere - from basement to attic Many water damage cleanup companies miss critical elements of effective drying. Buildings are like sponges, so just because there isn’t any visible water doesn’t mean the building is dry. Also, attic and basement water damage can be particularly tricky to handle because of hidden moisture and conditions that are ripe for speedy mold growth, and any sewage damage that might be associated with the flooding can contain dangerous microbes that pose a serious danger to your health. So it's important to use a water damage company who are expert at delivering all aspects of water damage restoration.

FAQs for water and smoke damage repair projects in Cincinnati, OH

The three methods or phases of water damage remediation are mitigation, remediation, and restoration. Mitigation is an emergency response that can include shutting off your water main or patching a hole in your roof from a fallen tree limb. Remediation includes drying the affected area, removing damaged materials, and dealing with any resulting mold growth. Restoration includes the build-back required to return your property to its previous condition. All three methods should be a part of any water damage remediation plan.

When hiring a water damage restoration company, you should confirm that the remediation plan includes fixing the underlying problem, dealing with resulting mold growth or rotted materials, and any making any build-back necessary to restore your property to its previous condition. Each phase of the remediation plan should include specific testing and inspection details to ensure the work is done properly and in a way that doesn’t prevent the restoration cost from being denied by your insurance provider.

If you find evidence of water damage in your home, your best option is to call a local water damage restoration company immediately. You could call a plumber first if you know that the issue is stemming from a plumbing pipe, but in many cases, a company that specifically handles water damage will be able to find the source of the damage and recommend a specific repair. Water damage restoration pros will also be able to develop a plan to remove any damaged material and restore your home to its previous condition.

When you find water damage, your first order of business is to keep everyone on the property safe, so if you have standing water, evacuate if it’s safe. If possible, find the source of the water and stop it, which could mean shutting your water main to prevent pipe leaks. Next, you should notify your insurance company and immediately call a water damage restoration professional. They will work with you and your insurance company to create a solution to fix the issue and file an insurance claim for the cost of the damage.

The average water damage restoration cost is around $3,500, but it’s not uncommon to see prices fall between $450 and $15,000. Your project cost will depend on the extent of the damage, the source of the water, whether or not mold has grown in the affected area from the moisture, and the emergency level of your water problem. Keep in mind that your insurance company may cover some or all of your restoration expenses if your homeowner’s insurance policy covers the specific issue.
