Anything from handyman services to general contracting. JS Residential specializes in laminate flooring, finish carpentry, interior and exterior painting, roofing, tile, siding, decks, and other handy work around the home or business.

"James and his crew were awesome!! Professional, punctual, and just overall great people to work with. They went above and beyond for our flooring project which was the entire house! They moved everything for us, always cleaned up after themselves and even picked up and returned flooring for me. James goes an extra 10 miles to make everything is as perfect as possible. He even corrected little things he found along the way that he didn't need to and any other Company would have charged me for. The flooring turned out beautiful and I love walking into every room and noticing the little details that James made sure he added or corrected. We really enjoyed working with them, they're very personable and easy to get along with.Working with them was a great experience and we are already scheduling another project. I trust James and his crew 110%."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

There's no simple answer to which is less costly: wood or metal-framed homes. In most cases, metal building components cost more than wooden ones, while entire metal buildings cost less than wooden versions. However, regardless of the exterior framing or structure, each must meet similar building codes. This means that the costs are about the same, even considering that wood will require more maintenance than metal over time.

Poured concrete is one of the best bases for a carport. You'll get one of the biggest bangs for your buck with concrete, thanks to its durability. At the same time, if concrete isn't in your budget, it might not be the best base for your installation. Dirt foundations, gravel foundations, and permeable pavers work in a crunch and can be long-lasting without the higher price tag of poured concrete.

Pole barns and carports are similar in that they rely on posts for support and are often not connected to a primary structure. The main difference between the two is that pole barns usually include walls that surround the entire perimeter of the structure, while carports generally remain open on three or four sides. It’s possible to insulate garage doors and even exterior walls on pole barns to create a comfortable workspace, and it’s a bit more secure for storage purposes. However, carports are more affordable.

Hickory, red oak, white oak, and Brazilian walnut are among the most durable wood flooring options. Teakwood is extremely durable and known as one of the hardest woods. It holds up against weather and sunlight, but it’s costly and can be difficult to source. Keep durability in mind when installing floors for high-traffic areas in your home.

Trex is not stronger than wood, but it lasts longer than wood and is heavier. Trex holds up well to the elements and is resistant to termites thanks to its resilient composition of plastic, reclaimed wood, and sawdust. Trex decking is rot and warp-resistant, making it especially useful in areas that experience a lot of snow and rain.
