"I had my front steps of my house done. The job was poorly done. When I asked if my steps were going to look like that when it was completed, I was told yes. He told me all my steps were different sizes. What he failed to say was he cut them wrong. So he lied to cover up the mistake.Because of the slabs being cut incorrectly he put pieces on the end of the slabs to fill in the gaps. It looks like a bad puzzle. Terrible job. Not professional at all. I’m so disappointed that I wasted my money on this company. I do not recommend them at all."

Lawn care is tough work—even when you hire pros, there’s no guarantee your grass won’t die (unless, of course, your company offers a guarantee). But lawn care companies don’t control the rain or watering restrictions. Your type of grass also impacts the type of care required to keep a lush lawn—and how much that care costs. The first step is killing any current nutgrass plants, either through application of herbicides or sugar, by digging up the plants and rhizomes, or by using soil solarization. To discourage new nutgrass plants from forming, ensure proper landscape drainage and bring shade into areas of the lawn that are consistently damp.

If your grass is stressed from being over-trimmed, try watering it heavily and then allowing it to recover for at least two weeks before mowing again. If you notice brown patches where the grass has died off because it’s too short, you should remove the dead grass and overseed the area. Leaving dead patches can invite weeds and other problems, so if you want a totally green lawn, getting rid of dead patches should include removing the dead sections before reseeding the area.

In the fall, you should aerate the soil, overseed the bare spots, kill weeds, mow the lawn low, and rake your leaves. By boosting your lawn’s health in the fall, your grass will be stronger throughout the winter and come back healthier in the spring. You should also trim your perennials so that they withstand the winter and are ready for new growth in the spring. 

If your lawn has a higher pH than recommended for your type of grass or it looks yellow, sulfur can help. If your lawn is slow to grow and not very lush, it could also benefit from a  higher sulfur content. Sandy soil is especially vulnerable to sulfur deficiencies.
