"The first problem with a basement water issue is getting your arms around the magnitude of the problem and what it is going to take to correct it. I invited Neil from Neverwet Basement Waterproofing to asses the situation in my 60 year old ranch basement. I feel Neil gave me a fair, honest and trustworthy evaluation of the situation. After major consternation I decided there was no way around the problem, it needed to be fixed. I went for the full recommended solution: New complete indoor drain replacement, new sump pump, trench and waterproof of the exterior walls, add an interior white Dry Shield and install (4) glass block windows. This was a $16K project but we are now comfortable that we have gotten our money's worth. The work site leader, Kevin, is very competent and very easy to work with on a daily basis. My wife and I were constantly updated on a daily basis of what was going to be going on. I was home to watch the progress and constantly checked with Kevin on small details. I would suggest that I am a tough grader but Kevin resolved every little detail to my satisfaction. I can't say enough positive about the work crew either. They are very knowledgeable, conscientious, courteous and friendly. They worked very hard and also did a solid clean up job at the end of each day. Overall, this really isn't a project you want to run into. I had let the problem fester for several years but if for nothing else, do it for your personal health. If you are in this situation, I think that Neverwet is the team you want in your home. Every team member does their job and we are now very satisfied with the final results...... a clean, dry liveable basement. Jim&Diane M. Penfield,NY"

"It was a large roof ice jam, fortunately Trevor was a little early. It was a tough job but it was well done. He removed the ice and repaired the soffit that the ice damaged. Well done at a fair price. Would definitely recommend him to others."

"I needed stucco repair work on an old chimney (and other spots). Grady was meticulous and thoughtful on what approaches and materials would work. Throughout the project they allocated sufficient time for each treatment to cure and inspected the work before proceeding to the next step. Grady started the project with no money down and only required ongoing payments for materials until the project was well underway. The final payment was due only after they did a final inspection. Total project cost was also below other bids."

Small jobs welcome

"So happy we chose R&D for our exterior wall repairs! they were great to work with throughout the process of what turned out to be a complicated issue. Their communication was really appreciated as they dug into things and problem solved some unique issues with how the previous home owners had cut corners on the house. R&D wasn’t the cheapest initial bid we received but I have no doubt that we would have wound up paying more in the end for a lower quality result with anyone else. Thanks guys!"

"The installation of the new windows went ok. Only complaint I had is that the color selection was limited, and the white I had to select did not match the off-white of the window trim."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Generally, large bathroom mirrors that have been secured to the wall with glue require a multistep removal process. By taping the mirror with masking tape or duct tape, you can potentially prevent dangerous shards from falling as you loosen the mirror. A heat gun or other heat source may be needed to loosen up the glue before it can be freed using a wire saw. With glued-down mirrors being the most dangerous to remove, it's wise to hire a professional instead of handling glass on your own.

Yes, it is possible to repair a damaged or cracked mirror, but whether you should do it yourself depends on the extent of the damage. For minor issues like small chips, cracks, and scratches, you can use a DIY approach. Resin-based repair kits can fix minor cracks, while scratches can often be removed with metal polish, nail polish, baking soda, or a glass polisher. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the best results.

However, for more significant damage, DIY repair is not recommended. Repairing and resilvering mirrors is a delicate process that can involve caustic chemicals and requires a high level of precision. The materials for a DIY attempt can cost over $100, which may not be a significant saving compared to hiring a professional. Since a failed attempt could result in more damage and higher repair costs, it is often better to hire a mirror repair expert from the start, especially for large, valuable, or extensively damaged mirrors.

You can hang bathroom mirrors in either orientation—vertical or horizontal. Factors like the bathroom layout, lighting design, vanity size, and mirror shape and size may make one orientation more practical. For example, a tall vanity with a tall faucet and low-hanging light fixtures may force a horizontal orientation for a rectangular or oval-shaped mirror. Looking at bathroom mirror ideas can help you decide which you like best.

Wall-to-wall mirrors have fallen out of popularity in recent years and have several drawbacks. They take up a lot of space, which can overwhelm small bathrooms. If you like the look, a wall of reflective medicine cabinets can add storage. Just keep in mind that a wall of mirrors requires more maintenance because smudges and splashes are more visible than on a wall.

Clean regularly with glass cleaner and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive materials to prevent scratches.
