I had wood around a couple windows had rotted, and also several boards on my deck. I found Sergiy of My Town Handyman on Angie's List, and sent him an email on Saturday. He replied Sunday, and we settled on Wednesday evening for him to take a look and give an estimate.

When he came, I showed him the deck and windows and he gave me an estimate on the spot. While he was there, I showed him a number of things inside the house that needed attention too. He took the time to listen and go through my list for over an hour. I felt that the prices were reasonable and competitive. I emailed him the next day to hire him and ask a couple follow-up questions. He answered my questions, and I was scheduled to start the following Wednesday. He emailed me a digital version of contract to review.

He and his worker Nick arrived Wednesday morning and they got started. They started with the deck and window woodwork so they could finish before the rain the following week. They worked hard, and for long days. They cleaned up their tools and work area overnight. They took off their shoes when working inside. They were considerate of my neighbors, trying to bother them as little as possible. They were mindful of my cat so she wouldn't get out. A show of their honesty: while working on the deck, a small hole was ripped in the sliding screen door. Before I even noticed, he told me about it and had already bought a replacement screen. They bought materials as needed and emailed me scanned copies of the receipts to be reimbursed, and gave credit for returns. They left the remaining items in the garage.

They finished all of the work as scheduled. They were flexible and did a few small things I hadn't originally asked for. The deck looks fantastic, and the fixes inside work great.

Sergiy responded quickly to phone calls and emails. He answered questions and explained himself well. After the work was complete, he called a few days later to see how everything was. I mentioned a couple small things could use a touch up after being used. They came by a couple days later and took care of everything."
