"Light Speed Welding is a gift from God. Matt got right back to me by phone and text. I sent him pix of the job. He gave me a fair price. It was a complex job and included welding three small pieces to a chassis. He did it perfectly w/o any complaining. Tough job, but he made it look easy. Talented. Recommend highly."

"After giving me an estimate for the work and the above price agreed upon, Mr. Donovan did the work in a very professional manner. He and his worker stayed until the job was fully completed even though earlier we had a thunderstorm. I would recommend Eastern Welding Company for any welding and wrought iron work to be done."

"I needed a custom stair railing and hand rail for a narrow stairwell in my home. I reached out to JP Welding and I am so happy I did. Joseph was so professional, dedicated, knowledgable, and got it all done in a timely manner. He fabricated the PERFECT hand rail and stair railing for us. He customized it to fit my needs without losing any additional space. It is sturdy, amazing quality, and beautiful to look at. I highly recommend JP Welding. I will use him for all of my future needs. You will not regret using this business. He is AMAZING at what he does."

"I texted Notjusthandymen.Com, they answered promptly, told me who would be coming to do job and then that person, Jesse called and setup a time to come in. He came and did the entire job on the very day of my first contact with them!
Jesse installed 2 window air conditioners and also went to the store to pick one up for me since I couldn't. He did an excellent, thorough job. He was on time and a very nice man. He worked hard, made sure the jobs were done properly and cleaned up. He will definitely be the first person I call the next time I need a job done around the home. Highly recommended!!!!

Welding is the process of using extreme heat—and, sometimes, pressure—to attach two pieces of metal. In contrast, metal fabrication is a more involved process that can include welding, sheet metal work, bending, and other forms of metal manipulation. Metal fabrication is a large-scale project that may or may not involve welding, while welding is more often a step in larger fabrication projects.
The average cost to hire a welder is about $300, with an average rate ranging from $65 to $125 per hour, depending on their experience and the project type and size. Aside from labor costs, some other charges you’ll need to pay include the cost of the welding material and the cost of the shielding gas that makes welding possible and safe. When you’re interviewing welders for your work, you can ask for an estimate based on your project specifics. In some simple cases, like welding gas lines or common welding projects, local welders may charge a flat hourly rate with add-ons if necessary.
There are a few things you can ask welders before you hire them to get an idea of their experience and ability levels:
Are you licensed and certified?
How long have you been in the welding business?
Do you commonly do the type of welding I need?
Do you offer any kind of warranty for your work?
Do you charge by the hour or by the project?
How long do you expect my welding project to take?
What steps do you take to minimize errors in your work?
You should not do your own welding unless you have the proper training and experience. Most home electrical systems can only handle MIG welding, which creates weaker bonds than TIG welding and won’t work on certain metals or metal thicknesses. Both welding forms usually require the use of shielding gas, which can be dangerous to store at home. Additionally, welding machines create temperatures of over 3,000 degrees, and the sparks can blind you if you don’t have the proper equipment. As such, it’s usually better to hire a professional welder for your welding projects.
Some states require welders to be licensed and certified, while others don’t. However, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed welder, regardless of requirements in your area, especially if you need welding for structural components of your home or gas lines. Licensed welders have gone through training and testing to prove their skills, so they’re less likely to make a mistake that could be detrimental to your home. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to determine whether your potential hire has a welding license.
