"We hired Valleyview Masonry to replace 42 feet of a basement wall. We had to have them come back and fix the cracks between the blocks, they had to fix the French drain because they had it blocked off with concrete. Now after paying them $14,000 we are having problems with the drainage they put in! We have spoke to Gideon numerous times about this issue and they still have not come to fix it and not even a call back! I would not refer them to anybody! They have terrible customer service!!!!!!"

Yes, asphalt is less expensive than concrete. Asphalt prices range between $7 and $15 per square foot, whereas concrete costs $3 to $18 per square foot. When considering asphalt versus concrete driveways, you’ll want to weigh more than just the costs. While concrete costs more, it costs less to maintain. On the other hand, asphalt has the advantages of a quick installation and shorter drying time.

Vinyl fence posts need concrete for longevity and stability. Later on, if a fence post is loose, you may be able to use expandable foam to repair the post. Expandable post foam works well for repairs or temporary fences. But when it comes to initially installing the post, always use concrete for the best results.

A 4-inch-thick concrete slab can support around 4,000 pounds per square foot if a contractor reinforces the slab with rebar, while that same slab without reinforcements will support closer to 1,000 pounds. For the purposes of a patio, 4 inches in thickness without reinforcement should suffice unless you’re installing heavy kitchen equipment or a hot tub on it. Additionally, dry pour concrete is less durable and less resistant to cracking and concrete sinking, so dry pouring over an existing slab may result in surface imperfections appearing prematurely.
