my skills and experience align perfectly with what you need for this role. In my previous position at IV5, I used my background in management to streamline a process or boost sales. "Brad, Joanne and AJ did an OUTSTANDING job in cleaning the exterior of my house. They greatly exceeded my expectations and took great pride in their work. They wanted my house to look beautiful when they were finished...and it did! Joanne even looked for extra things to clean...such as our vinyl picket fence and front entry light. These were things that I did not expect and went beyond the "house cleaning" that I had contracted for. They clearly undercharged me for the effort they put in (so I gave them a nice tip). I would hire them again for ANY of the services they provide. THANK YOU!"

"It went very well. They started on the 11/7/2017 and ended on 11/15/2017. They did a very nice job, they were reliable, did a thorough job, neat, cleaned up well and they were responsive to my needs. I would highly recommend them to others."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

No, you don’t need a permit to repair and replace a few boards on an existing deck. However, if you’re making structural changes to the deck or tearing down the old one and building a new one, you will likely need a permit. Check with your local municipality for the regulations and rules in your area, or ask a local contractor who builds decks for advice.

It is definitely worth sanding a deck to ensure the wood absorbs new stain. Sanding a deck removes the outer layers of aging wood, allowing the stain to penetrate. It also gives a fresh look to the entire surface as part of the deck refinishing process. Without sanding, your stain or sealant is less likely to absorb into the wood. While sanding a deck is a time-intensive project, the rewards are noticeable and long-lasting.

Most building codes list a minimum width of 36 inches and a maximum height of 7¾ inches. However, for the most comfort and spaciousness, you’ll want to aim for a width of at least 48 inches and a height of 7 inches. Again, it’s always a good idea to base your numbers off steps that you already use comfortably.

Cutting the boards directly is one of the fastest ways to remove deck boards with hidden fasteners. Mark two parallel lines that are one-third of the total measurement on both ends and cut out the centerpiece. Then, remove the end of the board that doesn’t have a fastener. Finally, pry open the fastened side and pull it up to pop out the screw or access the fastener. This also allows you to salvage portions of boards for other projects.

Before installing a new railing, check the condition of the deck frame and joists, especially around the perimeter where posts attach. If boards are loose, soft, or show signs of rot, the structure may need repair. A deck pro can inspect your framing to confirm it meets load-bearing requirements.
