Anthony has very good attention to the little details that makes for clean and neat result. After the job was completed a intensive clean up began even into the street making the neighbors happy. "Hired KO in May 2024, started work in September 2024 - by April 2025 work still not completed...Terminated KO in April 2025 KO wanted more money to fix his errors (epoxy everywhere...grimy prints into epoxy everywhere) Have hired new contractors to redo all of KO's work; each has commented his work was below amateur - brought his politics into the workplace, too Made old woman cry - who just wanted the work completed after many extensions and didn't understand why she had to pay more money for his poor work; dismissed old woman's concerns - even stated "old women love me" - Has KO duped others? Again, newly hired contractors examined his work and scoffed. Do Not hire KO - not reliable, poor attitude...and you'll just have to get the work redone - not accredited with the BBB and only other reviews (prior to this) are from the same month/year and in same style. Took $16,000 in 5/24, started 9/24, not done by 4/25 + wanted $9,500 more nearly irredeemably bad work The Brown Family"

Sand is a common sublayer for hardscape features like driveways, paver patios, and more. Most projects that involve sand require a 1-inch layer to promote evenness, drainage, and weight distribution. For further drainage, most projects have a 6-inch minimum layer of gravel beneath the sand. 

A light layer of mulch can help protect a tree, retain moisture, and keep the soil healthy. However, it’s important to avoid over-mulching or piling the mulch up around the trunk of a tree, a practice notoriously called “volcano mulching.” That piled mulch can increase the chances of rot and disease on the tree trunk as well as overwhelming the soil, which needs access to a certain amount of air. Topped trees have it hard enough: mulch sparingly while they heal.

The best equipment for moving large rocks from your yard depends on their size and weight. A heavy-duty wheelbarrow or a rock dolly can be effective for smaller boulders. A skid-steer loader or a mini-excavator with a grapple attachment provides the necessary power and control for larger, heavier rocks that you can’t lift manually. Professionals may use a larger excavator and ratchet hoist to remove larger boulders.

The best time to lay mulch depends on the type of mulch and the reason for installing it: 

  • Summer: Adding extra mulch helps soil retain moisture and keeps weeds at bay, allowing plants to thrive. 

  • Fall: Adding mulch helps control weeds and keeps soil and roots warm during the cooler months. Aim to add a layer of mulch 2 to 4 inches deep.

  • Winter: Mulch around perennial plants to help keep them insulated.

  • Spring: Wait until the ground has thawed. Depending on the thickness, add between 1 and 4 inches of mulch to provide freeze and rain protection and enrich the soil.

If your mulch delivery company or landscaper installs mulch around multiple spots in your yard (especially if they are more complex areas), feel free to tip up to $15 a person. However, there's no need to tip for a standard mulch drop done in your driveway or on a tarp.
