Since we’ve had those severe thunderstorms the last couple of weeks, we have had no leaking whatsoever. We are very happy with the quality of his work! We have even asked him to come back next year and do both of our garage roofs!"

Most single-story homes don't have foundations strong enough to support a second story, but they can be reinforced for an addition. A structural engineer can assess your foundation and what needs to be done to get it ready. In order to raise your home to make foundation repairs, you'll need to bring in a structural engineer to help you design the project. You'll also need to see if you're eligible for the permits needed, and contact a foundation repair company near you.

Although it is possible for a house to collapse from a sinking foundation, it will likely take many years, and signs of major issues will be apparent for a while. Homes on hillsides or in areas that experience frequent washouts are at a higher risk of collapse. Still, barring a natural disaster or extreme circumstances, houses are unlikely to fully collapse from foundation damage.

It depends on the bank and the extent of the issue. Some banks will lend against homes with minor foundation damage, but most won’t if the issue is structural since the home acts as collateral for the mortgage. Banks that offer renovation loans might still finance a home with structural problems. More minor issues like settling cracks and intermittent problems with humidity are unlikely to stop a bank from financing.
