He has incredible integrity (advising the right equipment vs. the equipment he would earn the best kick back on). "Purchased a large Friedrich AC window unit without a hitch from P.C. Richards by telephone. Was looking for a transom installation of unit, which is the top half of the window. I usually use a specialist because retailers only advertize standard window (lower half) installations. Salesman said he never heard of transom installations, but found the option on their computer system and set it up. Unit was delivered on time, but communication breakdown occurred between store and installer, who expected to install in lower half and didn't have the parts for transom installation. Followed up with salesman and was assured problem would be rectified. We rescheduled for a few days later and the unit was installed appropriately without a hitch. I wasn't too upset as most retailers don't do transom installations as they are more difficult (and more expensive) to do. So this was a special request of sorts. I prefer the transom mounts because you can still open and close the window and can leave the unit in all year. The Friedrich AC unit itself is fine, though I've noticed some deterioration in Friedrich quality over the years as I've replaced other units. Cooling is fine, though a noticeable clicking occur, which appears related to the thermostat. Louvers also rattle a bit when the compressor is running. Rattle disappears when plastic cover is removed."
