If your pool’s pH level is too high, chlorine won’t be as effective. Since chlorine is responsible for sanitation and keeping bacteria out of your pool, a high pH level could create a higher risk for bacterial diseases. Certain pools serve as a middle ground between traditional swimming pools and hot tubs. The two main options are plunge pools and swim spas. A plunge pool (or cocktail pool) is smaller, but you can add spa-like elements such as heating and jets. A swim spa is more similar to a hot tub, but it produces a current that allows you to swim in place (similar to how a treadmill lets you run in place). 

You can usually use the water from your tap to refill your pool, whether it's city water or well water. If you're going to use well water to fill your pool, make sure you have an adequate amount of water available and that the water is free of contaminants. A water delivery service may also be able to bring water to refill your pool.

Your swimming pool water can become cloudy if there’s too much chlorine. If your pH levels are out of balance, you can start to notice cloudiness. In other words, too much of any one chemical in your pool water can cause it. This is one reason it’s so important to stay on top of keeping your pool clean and getting pool maintenance done.

Fiberglass pools require the least amount of maintenance. Part of this has to do with their durability. Fiberglass has a smooth, non-porous surface that helps resist algae growth, cutting down on weekly maintenance. They also require less long-term maintenance than other pool types. They don’t need resurfacing like concrete pools, and you won’t have to replace the liner like you would with a vinyl-lined pool.
