"This was a very involved plaster repair and remediation job, in a very old house. Grady is the only person (or company) who was willing to take on the job and drive all the way from Pennsylvania to our home in Northern Virginia. There are very few people who do this kind of work anymore (we really searched) and he is an expert in his field. We needed to work around his schedule, because he is in demand in the tri-state area, so it took awhile to schedule the work to begin... but it was worth it."

"We needed a repair of a leaded glass side light. Terraza was very efficient and professional and quick to give us an estimate. They removed the panel, and returned the very next Saturday with a perfect repair which they installed. We met Donna and her husband who did a terrific job. I hope our dog Jeff who made this repair necessary when he tried to attack the mailman from inside the house never does this again. If he does we will get to see Donna and husband again and Jeffs milk bone treats will be reduced."

Small jobs welcome

"I would like to thank Tim for the high quality work he did, and his expertise in restoring the stained glass window in my home. I would highly recommend the business for his professionalism, knowledge, and skills, utilized in making my stained glass window look great. It needed more work than originally estimated. Tim kept to the very fair price he quoted me for the job. Thanks again for a job well done, for a great price!"

"Tamaz completed the job up to my standards in an extremely fast manner. The only negative comment I have is that he did some things without first asking me like drilling ugly screws into a nice shower frame door. Otherwise, I recommend that you find out exactly what he is going to do before he does it. I would use him again and clearly recommend him to others."

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible for small projects, but professional installation ensures proper sealing, structural integrity, and a precise finish.

Heavy glass tends to be more expensive than thin glass because it is stronger and more durable. In most cases, ¼-inch-thick glass is ideal for mirrors, and ⅛-inch-thick glass is ideal for residential windows. Heavier glass isn’t always necessary, and can be more challenging to hang or install. Work with a local window installation pro for replacement or new construction windows.

Their thickness depends on application, but most glass walls are typically 3/8 to 3/4 of an inch thick. Although it’s not as common, single panes of glass can also be 1 inch thick.

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.

Yes, professionals can install decorative or colored glass block patterns for a unique look.
