"Mr. Angel Zapata arrived on time. Asked preliminary questions regarding the job to be done. Very professional. Listens! Explained what he would be doing. "Jon was immediately responsive and helpful. I explained my situation and that I was concerned I might need to replace my furnace (a opinion from another company). He stated he would just come do a diagnostic and we could go from there. That diagnostic fee was very reasonable. The tech came, stating that it was likely the "board" that needed replacing. They ordered the part and immediately came out and finished my mix. A HUGE RELIEF that I did not have to replace the furnace right before winter. So for once I felt like I was being dealt with honestly, and they went above and beyond. I will call them with ANY of my HVAC/Plumbing needs. Thank you Jon and the techs at Sync! I'm still WARM!!"

"I was able to give the gentleman that came over instructions as to what Iwanted done, moving a lot of heavy things in the basement and and re-organizing items I could not move and he was able to do it well. I was actually able to go upstairs and take care of things without having to sit and watch him to make sure he did the work correctly. I was very happy with the work."

"They were wonderful! They contacted me immediately about the job and stayed in communication until their arrival, which was on time. They got right to work replacing my broken window and were quick, did the job right and cleaned up afterwards. They were also very pleasant and easy to work with. I could not have expected any more than the excellent job that they did. I highly recommend them!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Water buildup in your HVAC system is a cause for alarm. If water accumulates in your ductwork, it can drastically lower your home's air quality and create safety hazards. These risks include mold growth, damage to your HVAC system, and attracting pests that are seeking water into your ducts. Proper insulation and sealing of ducts can prevent this, and regular inspection and maintenance can address water damage problems before they become too severe.

As a general rule, you should have your HVAC system professionally serviced at least once a year, though it's best to follow the manufacturer's specific recommendations. Many experts suggest twice-yearly maintenance: once in the spring for the cooling system and once in the fall for the heating system. This is especially recommended for older units, systems with recurring issues, or heat pumps that provide both heating and cooling. Regular service, which can cost between $100 and $550, keeps the system running efficiently, helps prevent costly future repairs, and saves money on utility bills.

Though it may seem redundant, you can absolutely have a central AC unit and a window AC in your home. In fact, if you place a window AC unit near your central air, it can help move the cooler air throughout your home. But doubling up on your AC methods can get pricey, so factor in cost accordingly.

You can protect your air conditioner in the winter by turning off the power at the thermostat and performing routine HVAC maintenance in the spring. Regular maintenance, cleaning, and repair of your AC unit helps protect it and extend its life span. If you have a window AC unit, remove it from the window and store it in a dry place during the winter. Window units cannot withstand freezing temperatures. Keeping them in your window also allows cold air to seep into your home.

You should get anywhere from three to five quotes for HVAC replacement to get an idea of the average cost of a new unit. Although this quote-collecting process can be time consuming, it allows you to compare what work is required, what type of unit you should install, and how much you should expect to pay for the service.
