Small jobs welcome

"Worked in our small siding job between other commitments as those got delayed by weather and design changes. Good workers. Fast and steady. Especially appreciate that they cleaned up nightly."

"Wonderful! He's very good. He did our roof a couple years ago too. Did a great job. Price was cheaper than everybody around. Cleanup was beautiful. We've had people here before doing our gutters that have just left a real mess and Jimmy was just meticulous with the clean up. He did a great job. He was here promptly when he told me he would be here and he cleaned them. He was only here about an hour. He gave me some advice about my downspouts. He did a great job. Good price too for gutters. I'd give him an excellent. He's been very prompt with us and good. When he tells you he's going to do something, he's here. We called several people. He was the cheapest and he did the best job. He's very nice too. A very nice person to deal with. He's good. He goes out of his way. A good guy."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Stains penetrate wood best when it's cool and dry, so you want to avoid moisture. If the wood is wet upon application, or if it rains before the stain dries, the water will soak into the wood and displace the staining solution. This leads to a flaky and blotchy look, which is the opposite of a sumptuous even coat. Once the stain has fully cured, after about 3 days, rain shouldn’t cause you any problems.

Oxygen bleach uses hydrogen peroxide as a base and won’t harm wood when using it as a cleaner. On the other hand, chlorine bleach breaks down wood at the cellular level and causes irreversible harm. Although you may not see immediate damage to wood after exposing it to chlorine bleach, its strength and integrity are now compromised.

Yes, beginners can use a paint sprayer, but there is a learning curve. It's important to go slowly, read the instructions thoroughly, and spend some time learning the technique. Watching tutorial videos for your specific paint sprayer model can be very helpful. Before starting your main project, practice on a scrap surface to get used to the sprayer and avoid common issues like overspraying, which can cause drips, bubbles, and other imperfections. For safety, always wear a mask and gloves, and be careful not to touch the sprayer's tip when it's in use, particularly with high-powered airless sprayers.

You’ll want to avoid excessively hot or humid conditions, so it’s best to apply your stain in late spring to early fall. It's also important to watch the weather forecast and aim for days when there isn’t rain expected for at least three days. For new decks, allow the wood to season beforehand for at least four to eight weeks.
