"The Vale Fox Distillery reached out to Steve to repair a bent rake arm in our 2500 liter mash tun, which to be honest brought our distilling operations to a complete stop (a very costly condition for us). Steve got back to us very quickly and arranged to stop by our location to assess the situation, upon arrival he not only assured the owner the job was well within the scope of SCP Metal Fabrications' capability, but he also assisted in removing it and took it with him that very day! Steve kept us up to date on the status of our arm (video) and repaired it to like new condition. As a retired mechanical engineer (now a distiller) I've seen my fair share of mediocre welding repairs, Steve and his crew not only met our expectations, they exceeded them and got us back in business. If you're looking for a courteous, professional, no nonsense metal fabricator, I recommend SCP Metal Fabrication!"

Wrought Iron questions, answered by experts

Proper installation can make a big difference in your fence's maintenance needs. For example, wood fences that aren't installed correctly can be more likely to rot. While it's possible to DIY a fence installation, hiring a local fence company can mean much less work for you in the long run.

A professional fence installer will make sure your fence is positioned correctly and installed in a way that ensures longevity and limited upkeep requirements.

Metal fencing is one of the most expensive options and is certainly more expensive than vinyl and oftentimes, wood. Specialized electric fences and, in certain cases, concrete can be more expensive than metal, but wrought iron is one of the most expensive fencing options, which is why you see it most often on expensive estates and in affluent zip codes.

Generally, the height of your dog fence should be 3 times the distance from the ground to your dog’s shoulder. For most small breeds, a 4-foot high fence will be more than enough to keep them from jumping out. Medium-sized breeds like Golden Retrievers, Labradors, and German Shepherds will need at least a 5-6 foot fence to stay contained. Large breeds that are also excellent jumpers, such as Greyhounds, may need a 7-foot high fence.

The most durable metal for a fence is wrought iron. With proper care, a wrought iron fence can last for centuries. This means regular resealing to stave off rust and corrosion, especially in coastal climates with salty sea air. In these environments, chain link and corrugated fencing tend to stand up better to the elements with fewer maintenance needs.

Deer can crawl under a fence if it has a gap of around 6 inches or more. Make sure to close all gaps at the bottom of your fence to keep deer out, and the bottom of the material should be tightly secured, or the deer will push right through it. As an added benefit, closing shorter gaps at the bottom of a fence can also keep rabbits out of your yard.
