Customers say: Quick response

"They did such a great job with cleaning our messy house that hasn't been cleaned in a while. We have a newborn and they were incredibly mindful of it and were so quiet. I haven't had such a clean house before and the prices were very reasonable too. Would highly recommend them to anyone needing a clean space."

Small jobs welcome

"Knowles Cleaning uses natural products wherever possible, so we don't come home to chemically smell through the house. We also have 2 little girls and are not the neatest of people, so everything was organize when we came home and they did a great job of cleaning around us. We are sorry to lose them as they move!"

"This business did an excellent job cleaning my rain gutters. Since they have not been done for many years, I advised of the problem gutters. They cleaned all the gutters that were on the house. Very friendly, professional and appeared to like their job. I would recommend this company. We spoke of window cleaning to be done this coming Spring. We'll see what the quote will be when the time comes."

Sonic Cleaning questions, answered by experts

In most cases, it is best to leave icicles on your roof and allow them to melt naturally. You should only remove them if they are heavy enough to cause damage to your home or pose a safety risk to people below. Attempting to remove icicles yourself can be dangerous, so if you are concerned about immediate damage, it is recommended to hire a professional. To prevent icicles from recurring, you should address the underlying cause, which is often poor insulation. Long-term solutions include improving your home's insulation or installing roof heating coils.

There are several ways to remove snow from your roof: using a snow rake, salting the roof with calcium chloride, using a rope (cautiously), and using heating cables. It’s important to mention that pretty, fluffy, sparkling snow weighs a great deal, and when physically removing snow from a roof, you should be aware of large snow slabs breaking off. These can weigh hundreds of pounds and are a real danger, so be extremely careful anytime you’re doing this type of work.

Tile roofs, including clay, concrete, and slate, are considered low-maintenance materials that require fewer repairs and less care than many other roofing options.

  • Clay tiles require minimal maintenance. They stand up well to the elements and UV radiation, repel water, and do not easily stain, discolor, or fade in direct sunlight. Clay tiles do not need sealing. Maintenance is typically only required to replace cracked tiles, which can be caused by foot traffic, extreme weather, or fallen tree limbs.

  • Concrete tiles are also low-maintenance but require more upkeep than clay. They need to be sealed every few years to maintain water resistance, and their color tends to fade more quickly than clay.

Aside from these material-specific needs, general maintenance for tile roofs includes annual inspections, routine gutter cleaning, and addressing repairs as they arise. A well-maintained tile roof can provide 50 to 100 years or more of protection for your home.

The average cost to clean a roof is around $500, but prices can fall between $150 to $1,000 or more. The size and complexity of your roof are the most significant cost factors, as larger roofs and those with various bump-outs and gables will increase your cost. Your roof material will also make a difference. An asphalt roof will require more labor, as your professional will need to be careful not to damage the shingles. A metal roof can stand up to more intense scrubbing and shouldn’t take as long to clean.

Long-handled telescopic brushes are the best way to clean the outside of a house without a pressure washer. There are even special attachments for cleaning the outside of windows. Use a gentle cleaning solution for both the roof and siding to avoid harming the finishes. Be sure to rinse the area thoroughly with a garden hose after scrubbing.
