"I wrote a review about work Wood Painting did on the outside of my house. I hired them again to paint the interior of my rental house, 9 + rooms. They masked and covered light fixtures, fans etc., removed all outlet/switch face plates, and blinds. There were ugly, outdated wallpaper borders in every room of the house. The wallpaper was put up with some type of glue, not wallpaper paste. Needless to say that presented a problem, the paper would not come off of the walls. The painters tried to remove as much as possible, but it would not budge, so they did some magic, and poof no more wallpaper borders. Everything looks great. Everything was done to perfection. I am very satisfied with their work."

"I needed Work done in my house around the common areas. Hugo did a phenomenal job in setting up, painting, as well as cleanup. There have been times when I’ve had to clean up paint droplets in the past, but there was nothing for me to have to clean after he was finished with the job. I would 100% recommend having him come out for any job big or small! I plan on having him come back to paint the exterior of my house in the spring and I can’t wait to see the results!"

"Paul did a fantastic job walking me through the scope of work, and getting me the estimate in writing. The gave me a timeline and stuck to it. Miguel and Gabriel were absolutely fantastic. They had my entire home repainted in just a few days, and all patchwork is flawless. I would rehire this company in a heartbeat."

"John Avila is a great guy to work with. We needed major work done on our two story house that included removal of old rain gutters, an old fire place chimney that is never used, damaged siding, damaged fascia board, old window trim and much more that hadn?t been touched in over 25 years. The house, including the steel roof was then pressured washed, caulked, primed and re-painted with top end Dunn Edward paint. Many other fine details were taken care of as well. The list goes on and on. It took well over a month to get all the work done. I am a retired building contractor too old to do this work but John and his crew were here to do the job. His prices aren?t cheap or over the top but reasonable with a little negotiating. I know that John is very busy and sometimes forgets to get back to your questions but I am a little concerned that he didn?t follow through with my request for getting an estimate for new flooring throughout or house."

"Jim has gone above and beyond when he painted my brother's home. He is an honest man, his word is his bond. The interior painting was fabulous. He also put in added hand railings on the staircase so that my brother who had a stroke can maneuver the stairs safely. Jim and his crew also laid new flooring and went beyond in detail. We cannot thank Jim and his crew enough for the excellent job that they did. We highly recommend JF Painting. It's an excellent company for your painting and flooring needs."

"Brian was very personable and quick to respond to our request for a bid. They even moved the job date up by a few weeks. Unfortunately, we were out of the country when the job was performed. I think, had we been in the country and able to supervise the work being performed we may have had a better outcome. Looking at the home from the street, everything looked good. However, when you were right up on the house looking at the worked performed there were several areas that were missed during the spraying process. The estimate stated that all new/raw siding and trim would receive 2 "healthy" coats of primer and 2 "additional" coats of paint. Unfortunately this was not done and we had to put a second coat of paint on all new/raw siding and trim. The estimate also stated that they would sand and scrape all areas needed. One area in particular on the existing structure desperately needed "wood filler" and we pointed this out during the walk-thru but when we returned home they had simply painted over the area in question so we had to do that work ourselves. Lastly, we do not believe that the railing on our front porch was properly prepared because the paint started bubbling and peeling so we had to sand and repaint that area ourselves as well. If you are wondering if we called and complained about the work performed on our home the answer is NO we did not. Why would we call them back out to fix all these problems if they couldn't perform the work correctly the first time."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

By applying protective finishes and using durable materials that withstand weather and time.

It is not always necessary to remove old stain before restaining a deck. If the previous stain is in good condition and is compatible with the new stain, you may be able to apply a new coat after thorough cleaning. However, if the old stain is in bad condition, flaking, or peeling, it is best to remove it completely to ensure an even surface and proper adhesion for the new coat. Staining over a damaged layer can lead to an uneven finish and poor penetration. For best results, test a small area first and consult the stain manufacturer's guidelines.

Yes, staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan, typically by five to 10 years. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it can still fall victim to moisture, sun exposure, and rot over time. Applying a treatment creates a protective shield that helps prevent splintering, fading, and decay, preserving the wood's strength and appearance. A combination stain and sealer often provides the best protection, as it soaks into the wood grain rather than just sitting on top. This offers superior defense against UV damage and rot and lasts longer than a sealer alone. To maintain the wood's natural look, consider using a near-translucent stain. You should plan to reapply the stain or sealer every two to three years.

Costs depend on coating type, labor, site preparation, and required finishes.
