Awful experience. ..victor never turned up as promised. We even offered to go to his store to pick up our piece of furniture. He said he would be there but was never there. This happened on several occasions. ..when confronted he never apologized.

Response from JV Artistry and Designs LLC
Dear [member name removed], You purchased brand new furniture from a company that sold you two faulty pieces of furniture. I actually came to your home to help put your furniture together after we repaired and replaced your broken furniture. I am not sure if you understand that we do not work for the furniture company that sold you your furniture. We did have to wait for the materials to come in including another whole new corner piece of furniture from the Manufacturer. Your husband was very gracious to us when we arrived to deliver and re-set up your furniture. Thank-you,
Nicole L.

Our experience with JV Artistry was terrible. This is a very long story, but I'll try to keep in concise.... We had an estimate to get our furniture redone through emails. I sent pictures of our furniture and told him the color we wanted (which was espresso) and he emailed us back. We got an estimate for $800, which was the best estimate we found, so we hired him to do the job. I was pregnant at the time (due on May 14th) and we told him there was only 4 months to get it done. He assured us it would be finished around the first week of April. So, we dropped it off at his shop, which at the time was on Boulder Hwy, on January 4, 2011. We left and felt confident it would done as we wanted. We kept in contact a little bit through the months. He told us we would need to replace the board on the back of the hutch because the existing one was more like a laminate, and couldn't be stained. He charged us an additional $100 for the new piece of wood. When the first week in April came, we called and asked about picking it up. He kept saying it was "still drying". He said this for a few weeks actually, and we couldn't understand why it was taking so long to dry. Finally, in the middle of April, my husband went to pick it up. I was not with him at the time. When he got there, he thought it looked a little funny, but didn't know what we had agreed on through our emails, so he paid him the balance (in cash) and loaded up the furniture. When I saw the furniture after getting home from work, I burst into tears. Being pregnant didn't help. The stain was SO inconsistent and uneven. The crib itself look great, but the other 3 pieces looked like they had a zebra print on them. The stain was just so bad. The knobs had spots where the stain rubbed off, the edges had spots where stain hadn't been applied, and the sides had brush strokes. Our first thought, after seeing it fully in the light, was that he rushed through far too quickly. We took several pictures and called Victor the next day. We had a long conversation and I essentiallly told him that I was unhappy about the stain job. He told me he'd fix it, but not in a very friendly way. He actually yelled at me on the phone after losing his temper. My husband dropped it off a few days later. After some discussion, my husband and I decided to get a new set because my due date was about 2-3 weeks away. We ordered a new set on our credit card and got our nursery set up. I called Victor and told him to take as long as he needed to finish because we got a new set, and that we planned on selling the other set when done. Well, we had our baby and a busy summer, and when August rolled around, we still hadn't heard from Victor. He finally called back and left a message saying it was complete and ready to be picked up. When I called to set up a pick up time, he never answered his phone. About a week later, my husband made a surprise visit to his shop and saw our furniture sitting in the corner, looking UNTOUCHED! He still saw the spotty knobs especially. Victor wasn't there, but his employee was and essentially said that he didn't know what Victor was doing with the stuff. Apparently it just sat in the corner, collecting dust. The next day, we figured out what to do to persue small claims court and sent out a Demand Letter for a refund. Through a series of emails and nasty phone calls, he finally said it was done in November. I asked for pictures to be sent through email just to be sure, but he refused! We scheduled a pick-up date/time anyway. The very day we were supposed to pick it up, his wife left me a message saying they had to cancel because of a knee injury. That was "it" for us, so we filed in court. We set up a court date with a mediator. When we showed up, they brought pictures of the stuff, which looked great, exactly as I wanted nearly 1 year prior. We decided to simply pick up the furniture and try to sell it, even though we wouldn't break even on the money. A week prior to picking it up, I emailed Victor, asking if he would be willing to pay us $100 to cover the court filing fees and Constable's fees, and he ignored it, never responding. I even told him I wanted to put a good review on Angie's List, saying everything had been resolved, but apparently he didn't care. We picked it up (on March 2, 2013) and he NOT ONCE offered to help load it. His employee helped my husband. We left and that was that. He ended up painting it, so we never got the stain redone. The paint looks good, but not worth the time or money!
Description of Work: We had our nursery furniture set refinished. It included a crib, chest of drawers, dresser/changer combo and hutch.

Victor is a true artist! He showed up at my house the same day (even though it was Saturday) to look at and pick up the piece - a replica of an African bull elephant - and retrieve it for the repair work. He worked on it all day Sunday, and returned it Monday in absolutely PERFECT shape. I am so glad to have found Victor and his wife Jody. Not only do they do detailed work like this, but they do so much more (see they're web site: www.jvartistry.com). I know I'll be using them again for other projects. They're not only talented, but who this day and age does the job in less than two days (and on a weekend to boot)? Once again, Angie's list came through for me!
Description of Work: I searched Angie's list to find someone who could repair a very delicate and expensive piece of art. It was a small but very heavy ceramic statue that had a piece broken off (that I had tried unsuccessfully to repair myself several times) and a chip broken out of it.
