"Devyn was quick to respond to my request for a quote on chimney sweep services. He was able to schedule me almost immediately and arrived promptly on the appointment day. He and his assistant, Brian, were complete professionals. They were friendly with my 2 dogsð and the fireplace areas were immaculate when they left. Devyn went up on the roof to inspect the chimney caps. He pointed out that our pine tree was overhanging the one cap and should be trimmed back to help air draw and avoid fire hazards. I would highly recommend Haneyâ s Services LLC for any chimney work you need. They were awesome!"

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

Yes, most homeowners insurance policies cover fire damage and restoration, provided the fire was not set intentionally or caused by negligence. Accidental fires, such as those from electrical issues, cooking, or gas, are typically covered. Your policy will usually cover emergency services like roof tarping, the full cost of remediation and rebuilding, and may also cover alternative housing while your home is being restored. You will be responsible for paying your policy's deductible. It is important to check your policy details to see how coverage is calculated—it may be for the full replacement cost of damaged items or the actual cash value, which accounts for depreciation. To expedite your claim, contact your insurance company immediately and have all necessary documentation ready.

Some of the most common chimney problems include:

  • Creosote buildup

  • Chimney blockage

  • Deteriorating brickwork or stonework

  • Cracked chimney top

  • Damaged flashing

  • Flue liner damage or deterioration

  • Damaged chimney cap

If you suspect you have a chimney problem, contact a masonry contractor for an inspection.

Depending on who’s doing the estimating, about 22,000 to 25,000 chimney fires happen each year in the United States. Given the fact that millions of Americans have fireplaces (and chimneys), that means chimney fires aren’t exactly common—but they’re not rare, either. Since they’re so dangerous, it’s important to take precautions to prevent them.

Just about anything that can damage your roof can damage a solar panel. It’s common for panels to sustain damage from hail or falling branches. Critters can chew through the wires. Snow and heavy rainfall can cause additional wear, along with extreme temperatures, which can degrade or stress the individual components. Even the UV rays that create electricity slowly damage your panel over time.

Regular HVAC filter changes, deep cleaning, and air quality monitoring help maintain a healthy environment.
