"LeafFilter doesn't clean gutters, they sell and install their LeafFilter Gutter products and only clean the gutters if you buy their product. I can't even begin to afford their product so I wasn't able to get my gutter cleaned by them."

Small jobs welcome

"I always get multiple estimates for projects like seamless gutters. Estrada's estimate was within a $100 or so of the other 3 estimates I got. I selected Estrada because I like to support small businesses whenever possible. Estrada scheduled a date for the install, but called a couple of days early asking if they could come do the job early - yes. The crew arrived on time as scheduled, was friendly, clean and seemed professional. As the job progressed it became evident that these guys had done this many times. They had an efficient system and soon had all of the gutter installed. As luck would have it a thunderstorm rolled in and It became apparent that the gutter in the front of the house was not working properly. The crew spent over an hour in the rain getting the front gutter properly leveled and draining correctly. They left me with touchup paint and extra downspout for me to use when my new rain barrels arrive. They thoroughly cleaned up all around the job site. I am very pleased with the seamless gutter install and highly recommend Estrada LLC to anyone looking to have seamless gutters installed."

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Underground downspouts refer to the sections of downspout extensions that lead away from your home and gutter system. While they cost more than traditional extensions, they can provide several benefits, such as less frequent damage and no need to move them for lawn care tasks. Whether they're worth it or not depends on your budget at installation time and how much convenience they'll add to your situation.

Yes, gutters can still get clogged even with gutter guards installed. While guards significantly reduce the amount of debris that enters your gutters, they are not 100% effective.

Small debris such as pine needles, seedlings, algae, small leaves, and pebbles can pass through the guard's screen or mesh and accumulate over time. Clogs can also form if the guards themselves are not cleaned and become overwhelmed with debris on top, preventing water from entering the gutter.

If this buildup is neglected, it can lead to clogs, water leaks, mold growth, and even plants sprouting from the gutters. The primary benefit of gutter guards is not the complete elimination of maintenance, but a dramatic reduction in how often you need to perform it, often from several times a year to just once a year or less.

If you want to avoid burying your downspouts, several alternatives can help direct water away from your home's foundation. One option is to connect a rain barrel to your downspout. During a storm, the barrel collects water that you can later use for irrigating your lawn or garden. Another common solution is to install an above-ground downspout extension. This can be done in a couple of ways:

  • Splash Guards: Placing a splash guard, available at most hardware stores, under your downspout can act as a simple funnel to direct water away from the house.

  • Downspout Extensions: You can add an extension to the end of the downspout's elbow to carry water further into your yard. Some extensions are flexible, allowing you to maneuver them around landscaping.

These above-ground solutions are particularly useful if your home has a slab foundation that you cannot dig up. However, they have limitations. An extension may not move water as far from your home as an underground system. More importantly, if your yard slopes back toward your house, these methods will be ineffective, and burying your downspouts remains the best option to prevent potential flooding and water damage.

Although having gutter guards and hoods dramatically reduces the number of times you will have to clean out your gutters, it doesn't necessarily mean that you won't ever have to clean your gutters. Experts recommend cleaning your gutters at least once every two years, even with gutter guards and hoods installed. If you don’t want to clean them yourself, you can hire a gutter cleaning company near you to complete the job.

It’s recommended that you clean your gutters after a severe storm, however, regular storms don’t raise the same concerns. Look for signs your gutter might need cleaning after a harsh storm. Do you see broken branches and excessive leaves all over your yard? Chances are your gutters caught quite some debris. Also, ensure a few drying days before cleaning your gutters. Dry debris is much easier to clean.
