"Other than weather delays, our experience with John and his workers was great. Quality was great but 2 things really impressed me; 1- We had leftover paint from painting our new hardy board siding on our cabin in Ruidoso. Painting the skirting was not on our bid but John had them spend a few extra hours spraying our skirting and he did not charge us for it. 2- Once the demo was done on our old deck and walkway, we realized the skirting under the deck on one side of our cabin was piece together scrap wood and it looked horrible. The crew not only cleaned out under the cabin and hauled off all the junk prior owners just tossed under but they had some leftover metal siding and went ahead and installed and painted it. Guess what, no additional fees added to the job. The new metal roof, hardy board siding, paint job, walkway and side door cover, front porch, new stairs off the deck, new gutters and deck look amazing."

"I had purchased a big deal for the service.  They were very personable and friendly. They figured out the job, went and got the stuff and did the job very well. There was nothing negative and the positive thing was that they were very personable, and willing to take my input. They asked us what we wanted, and if what they did was okay, so they worked well with us.  They were making openings in the wall, so that they could take all the wires from the computer into the wall, and come down and out of the wall, so that we could plug them down underneath and not have wires all over. I just paid 10 more Dollars for the little covers for the holes in the walls."

Patio Covers questions, answered by experts

There are many ways to mitigate wind damage. Some of the most common methods include installing storm windows and doors and wind-rated garage doors. When you get a wind mitigation inspection, the inspector will also assess the condition and shape of your roof to see how well it will withstand strong winds.

Besides the type of awning, you’ll need to choose the type of cover. Your awning installation professional will review your options with you, including availability and costs. The types of covers you can choose from include:

  • Wood, which is durable but can be damaged easily by rainwater and fire

  • Cotton offers flexibility, weatherproofing, and easy cleaning

  • Canvas is highly durable and is a good choice for retractable awnings

  • Metal is sturdy but is prone to rust

  • Polyester is easy to clean and is a more breathable option

  • Polycarbonate is highly resistant to UV rays and is difficult to damage

Hurricane fabric is a temporary form of hurricane protection that offers an alternative to boarding up windows or installing traditional storm panels. It is installed over windows, doors, and other openings before a storm. When installed properly, hurricane fabric is tested and proven to protect homes from Category 5 hurricanes, which can have winds over 157 miles per hour. It is intended to block the majority of wind and rain and protect against water, debris, and projectile damage. While the fabric is exceptionally durable, windows can still break if hit directly by high-velocity debris. Compared to other options, hurricane fabric is more protective than hurricane window film. Boarding up windows is more labor-intensive and requires storing heavy plywood, while hurricane screens are permanently attached to your home. To further increase protection, you can take additional steps like securing outdoor items and fortifying your home's foundation.

Costs range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on size, material, and design complexity.

Awnings offer a number of benefits, including:

  • Reduced summer home cooling costs with lower solar heat gains

  • Protection from sun, rain, and snow damage

  • Increased curb appeal for your home

Keep in mind that awnings also have drawbacks, including the potential to reduce your view, block natural light, and create new occasional home maintenance needs.
