"Our old asphalt driveway was a cracked mess, and our front steps were literally crumbling away. These guys came out and completely transformed the front of our house with new interlocking pavers and a gorgeous set of stone steps. The crew arrived on time every day, kept the job site clean, and the curb appeal now is incredible. If you want high-quality masonry work, don't look anywhere else."

"Roven took the time to explain the process and the details involved in installing Belgium blocks along my driveway and a flower bed nearby that was edged with old, crumbling concrete. He extended the walkway to my front door with stone tile and at a reasonable cost. The end result met my expectations and I will use this company again for other projects."

"We hired them for a back stairs demo and new install. Aldo was amazing! He worked really hard, was meticulous, documented every step of the project. We are so happy with the final steps that we hired him to repair our concrete foundation. He did an amazing job with that too. All our future masonry work will go to this contractor. Thanks for the peace of mind."

"Hand Gold Construction did an excellent job to replace the awful lawn with the brand new pavers in my backyard. The guy who was dedicated to this project entirely was a very nice person and worked hard even in the hot/rainy weather. He was kind enough to help us when we were doing the gardening. Another guy (his son?) also did an excellent job in interlocking pave stones. Our neighbor also hired them after seeing their work and the result of my backyard. This company provides the good quality of work with good price and very responsible to what they commit. I highly recommend this trustworthy company and will definitely hire again for the future project."

Concrete Cutting questions, answered by experts

You should not do your own welding unless you have the proper training and experience. Most home electrical systems can only handle MIG welding, which creates weaker bonds than TIG welding and won’t work on certain metals or metal thicknesses. Both welding forms usually require the use of shielding gas, which can be dangerous to store at home. Additionally, welding machines create temperatures of over 3,000 degrees, and the sparks can blind you if you don’t have the proper equipment. As such, it’s usually better to hire a professional welder for your welding projects.

Some welding projects, such as repairing pipes or fences, require travel, whereas others, like furniture repair, do not necessarily require the welder to come to you. Travel and overhead factor into the overall cost of your welding project. Some of the most common welding projects include:

  • Metal furniture repair: $35–$100

  • Pipe repair: $200–$1,000

  • Small gates: $550–$750

  • Fencing: $1,200–$1,800

  • Fabricated sheet metal welding: $750–$2,500

The cost to weld aluminum averages about $14 to $22 per pound. The type of metal factors into the overall cost of any welding project due to the cost of the materials and the expertise required to work with it. Some of the most common metals used by welders include:

  • Magnesium alloy: $7–$16 per pound

  • Low-carbon steel: $11–$12 per pound

  • Stainless steel: $13–$15 per pound

  • Copper/brass: $24–$29 per pound

  • Cast iron: $38–$79 per pound

  • Titanium: $60–$85 per pound

To maintain custom or fabricated metal structures and extend their lifespan and appearance, perform regular cleaning, apply rust prevention treatments, and use protective coatings.

Welders use a variety of methods in their trade. Different types of welding are better suited for different purposes and contexts. For example, stick welding is a versatile form suitable for most metals and alloys. The most common types of welding include:

  • Stick welding: $100–$1,000

  • Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Gas welding: $150 and up

  • Forge welding: $15–$25 per hour
