"Great communication throughout the project. The new deck looks fantastic. Very respectful of the property and their crew was polite and cleaned up each day. The work was done on time and on budget."
"Miguel and his team of contractors were responsive, prompt and professional for the multiple jobs I required. My project entailed repainting two large rooms, installing an audio soundbar with wires snaked behind wall, fixing two closet doors, installing blinds and curtains, patching up a small hole in our wall and touching up paint in two other rooms. They accomplished this in one day, no questions asked, at the quoted rate with no upcharge to the estimate. They also vacuumed when finished and cleaned up very well. When they were packing up to leave after working 12 hours, there was an issue with my cable television - no service. They stayed with me while I was on the line with Comcast to ensure my cable TV was working properly. Turned out it was an issue with Comcast's service and my cable box needed a complete reboot. Point is, they cared and were willing to stay late to ensure everything was working properly. From my experience, the level of service and customer care is second to none. Miguel's attention to detail, cleanliness, price and professionalism cannot be overlooked. After dealing with quite a few contractors in the past who were expensive, late, lethargic, unresponsive and unprofessional I will now call M.A.S for all of my general contracting/painting needs: both large and small."
"Cesar and his crew just finished a remodel of my master bathroom. This is the second major project completed in my home by CSZ (prior kitchen remodel) and once again they exceeded my expectations. Cesar worked with me along the way to come up with the perfect design to ensure all my requirements were met. He is knowledgeable and his attention to detail is second to none. The CSZ crew, Armondo and Benjamin were also a pleasure to work with. They are knowledgeable, trustworthy, and hardworking. They also did an exceptional job cleaning up at the end of each work day. My dog even loves them! I highly recommend CSZ Construction. They will most certainly be back for future projects in my home!"
"The work was excellent. You can't tell the difference of the old wall (1939). I would highly recommend them for work. Was done fast. Left the area clean. Was very impressed. Will definitely be using them again!"
"We hired Peter Dorizas from Dorhos Management, LLC and he was an excellent painter and very reasonably priced. He also did other things that needed fixing and cleaned everything up. I would definitely recommend him."
"Freddy and his team are great. They are organized, neat and cleaned up once job was completed. They did a great job pairing my foyer and hallways which contained many detailed moldings. Highly recommended!"
"Highly recommended! Rafael was responsive, professional, flexible, and creative in finding solutions. He and his skilled crew were able to complete a series of masonry and carpentry projects in a timely manner. It was a pleasure to work with him."

In general, you need a footing at each corner of your deck, and within 8 feet of each other. So, how many you need depends on the size and shape of your deck, plus any local building codes. It also depends on factors like the load capacity of your soil and the weight of your deck. You can find a footing calculator online or contact a pro for support.
It is possible to build your own deck, but it’s typically better to leave the work to a decking professional. Decks can be exceptionally complicated, especially if you want a wrap-around or second-story deck, and you don’t want to risk making an expensive or dangerous mistake. It’s usually better to hire a decking pro who can pull permits and build a structurally sound deck that will last for decades and provide the maximum return on investment.
When installing deck boards, screws are generally a better option than nails. Screws offer superior holding strength over time, keeping the boards securely in place. In contrast, nails are more likely to pop out, which can create a tripping hazard. While you can use either, we recommend using 3-inch galvanized deck screws. To minimize the risk of cracking the wood, it's a good practice to drill small pilot holes before driving the screws into the deck joists.
Deck stairs should have at least three stringers rather than two. The recommended minimum width for stairs is 36 inches, and the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors recommends at least three cut stringers to provide sufficient support on wood decking stairs of this width. Generally, stringers should be a maximum of 16 inches apart for wood decking and 12 inches apart for more flexible composite decking.
No, you don’t need a permit to repair and replace a few boards on an existing deck. However, if you’re making structural changes to the deck or tearing down the old one and building a new one, you will likely need a permit. Check with your local municipality for the regulations and rules in your area, or ask a local contractor who builds decks for advice.
