"Christian is very knowledgeable, helpful, fair, and thorough. He tested our air quality for mold, asbestos, and lead. He is not trying to upsell you but gives you an honest assessment of what’s going on and options you have to address them. Also, from my research, his services are very fairly priced."

"Eddy and his team trimmed seven pine trees for us, and the result was
outstanding. Excellent service! They were prompt, friendly, and very professional.
Very fair price, great work, cleaned up everything
(couldn't tell they had even been here, except for the outcome). Eddy
really knows his trees, and we recommend Double Tree with our
highest recommendation!"

"David inspected a potential home I was looking to purchase and he was so thorough that by the time we were done it gave me a very clear understanding of what issues the house had, what needed fixing and what was downright dangerous. When buying a home, you need a great inspector like David because if you don't get a good inspection you run the risk of buying a big money pit. I bought a home once before but that was a joke compared to the great inspection David did. The home David inspected was a small 1200 sq. home but it was built in 1935 and so he did mention we should expect to see some things pop up. However, he went above and beyond and I am so grateful for his hard work that I will recommend him to others in the future as well and will call on him again for inspections. He also brought Alex, a septic inspector, with him who was also very thorough and very good and provided a very through report. Thank you, David, for your wonderful help! You have no idea how much I appreciate it."

"I used North Eastern Cleaning in 2011 for work needed at my place of business.  The owner, Victor, was extremely knowledgable, and took his time explaining  what I needed done.  I also recommended him to many of my neighbors, all of whom were also completely satisfied with his work.  I had obtained estimates from other larger, well-known companies which were astronomically high and felt like I was being taken advantage of because of the scope of the problem created by Sandy.  He came in, spent an ample amount of time discussing all the steps that would be involved and even warned me of all the over-pricing that was being done by many of the bigger companies.  He was absolutely right!  His estimate was far more detailed and reasonable compared to the price-gauging of all the other estimates I received.
His crew came in and were respectful, careful with all my belongings, and they even cleaned the 2nd floor because the mold spores had spread to the upstairs.  All in all, I am satisfied and happy with the work that was done and the amount of time it took to complete the job.  I'm glad I went with North Eastern Cleaning for my mold work."

Lead Testing and Removal questions, answered by experts

Lead toxicity comes from inhaling lead or consuming it. Before the 1980s, when the government banned lead from consumer use, it could be found in paint, plumbing, pipes, ceramics, and even gasoline. Lead paint is toxic for the same reason lead itself is toxic, which is why lead poisoning from paint presents the same as lead poisoning from water or food sources, with a slight increase in respiratory symptoms vs. digestive symptoms. Lead paint is most dangerous when it’s old and peeling, cracking, or otherwise disturbed. This increases the concentration in the air and, therefore, in breathable air.

While the EPA provides guidelines for homeowners to perform DIY lead paint removal, it is a risky process and generally not recommended due to serious health risks and strict regulatory requirements. The process requires precise safety precautions, such as wearing a respirator and protective eyeglasses, creating sealed exits, and using a HEPA vacuum for cleanup. To ensure the job is done safely, effectively, and in compliance with regulations, it is highly recommended to hire a professional lead abatement company. Certified professionals have the necessary training, experience, and specialized equipment (like chemical strippers and HEPA vacuums) to handle and dispose of hazardous materials safely.

How you test for lead in your water depends on the source of your home's water supply. If you have municipal water, your local water system may offer to test the water for free or may connect you to a lab that will perform the testing.

If you have a private well that provides drinking water, you are responsible for testing it for lead. Look for a lab that is accredited by your state's Department of Environmental Protection to perform the test.

Unfortunately, lead dust does not look different from any other type of dust. You cannot detect it with the naked eye. To determine if you have lead dust in your home, you will need to hire a local company to take a sample from the paint and test it for you in a lab.

You do not have to remove lead paint if the surface is not chipping or peeling or if there are no pregnant people or children under the age of six who live in or regularly visit your home. Lead paint is a particular risk for young children whose brains and bodies are not fully developed. Experts strongly recommend that you call a pro to remove lead paint if it’s peeling or flaking, no matter who lives in the home. You can experience lead poisoning by breathing in or ingesting just a small amount of it.
