"Roy is the best. He spent 3 hours Saturday afternoon troubleshoot a mistake that previous electrician made, for a very reasonable price. Now the awning and front patio lights work, finally! Kids and wife happy. Hiring rap for the next projects."

"Ken installed recessed lighting in my living room. He provided full explanation of the wiring necessary for the project as well as specific lighting options. Ken was very professional throughout the project - he showed up on time and took extraordinary care during installation and provided this service at a very fair price. "Justin, our service person, installed a transfer switch in our garage to run a portable generator in case of a power outage. His work was very professional and he took the time to explain what he was doing and how things worked. After installing the switch, he checked all the circuits, activated the things we wanted to run then hooked up the generator and made sure everything worked, which it did, before he left. Would use again if any need occures."

"R&J was most helpful in guiding me through my install. The technician consulted me about placement and how to “keep it neat”. They were there within 2 days of me receiving my charger from Amazon. Clearly pro’s at it"

"There is not enough time in the world to write so many great things about DLP Electric. After purchasing a new home, the guys helped me hazard proof all of the electrical elements before I moved my toddler and new born in. From installing new lights & a new smart doorbell to updating all of the outlets, DLP Electric did a phenomenal job and I’m so glad my realtor recommended them. Moreover, they are high in demand in the area and were very accommodating in fitting my home into their schedule. They work accurately, quickly, and clean up is thorough. I will be using DLP Electric for all of my needs."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Whole-house generators need to be installed on level ground several feet away from walls and other objects. Because they tap into the electrical system directly, they usually need to be close to your home electrical panel for a transfer switch installation. It also helps with installation if they are near to a gas line or propane tank installation.

An undersized whole-house generator has the potential to overheat and shut down when you try to run a central AC system. This scenario can not only damage the whole-house generator, but can also trip your home’s breakers or cause electrical damage. To avoid this situation, hire a local generator installer to correctly size your whole-house generator.

Homeowners can often access federal tax credits, such as the Investment Tax Credit (ITC), which covers a percentage of installation costs. Many states and utilities offer additional rebates, grants, or performance-based incentives. These programs can significantly lower your upfront investment. Check the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) or contact your local energy office for current offers.

Yes, in some locations, it is required by the National Electric Code (NEC) to have a transfer switch installed for electrical emergencies. In addition to following electrical code, generator transfer switches ensure your home is fully protected during a power outage. By switching the power from the main breaker to the generator breaker, you can seamlessly operate your HVAC, lights, appliances, devices, and more during an emergency.

These advanced generators use a key fob or a smartphone app to remotely start, which is ideal for getting power back on immediately without venturing outside. This feature is more common on whole home generators, but you may be able to find it on large portable generators, too.
