"We hired Studs Construction on a couple of different occasions. There was a leak in our dining room ceiling and mold was discovered. Studs Construction was recommended to us, so we called them to come and repair it. The dining room ceiling had to be taken down in order to clean out the mold. While the ceiling was open, they installed new recessed lighting and then new drywall. We hired Studs Construction again when we were selling our home in PA and needed repairs to be made after the home inspection was done. They replaced several electrical outlets, light switches and repaired the attic fan. The biggest repair that had to be made was that our 12x20 shed had to be moved 18 inches away from the easement. Stud Construction dug underneath the shed and strategically used PVC pipes to roll the shed over them 18 inches. It was a difficult job, but they planned it out completely and successfully moved the shed. It was very impressive. We would highly recommend Studs Construction to anyone and for any job. Obie, the owner, is very knowledgeable, thorough, efficient, responsible, reasonable, professional and honest. You would not be disappointed!"

Childproofing questions, answered by experts

The best time to hire a childproofing professional is at least three months before your due date. Although it might seem early, proper childproofing takes time, especially if you need extensive services like a pool fence. Getting your house ready now before your child is on the go only helps to protect them at all stages of life.

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are a safe and effective way to protect children from electrical hazards. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the outlet slots when not in use, preventing a child from inserting foreign objects. While they are the safest option available, it's important to note that few things can be considered truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug, so constant supervision around any electrical device is recommended. Tamper-resistant outlets are a much safer solution than childproofing covers, which can be removed by children and may pose a choking hazard.

In many cases, you can DIY home childproofing with success. You can purchase childproofing tools like cabinet locks, outlet covers, and table-edge guards and install them easily.

However, it's best to have a professional childproofing service work on larger projects like pool safety or furniture anchoring. These safety measures can take a lot of time and effort to DIY, plus, you want to ensure the tasks are done correctly to keep your child safe.

Many parents, especially first-time parents, agree that professional childproofing is worth it. These professional childproofing services are trained to recognize dangerous home situations that many people would overlook until it's too late. Furthermore, professional childproofing experts have access to top-of-the-line equipment you can't purchase at most stores, providing longevity and peace of mind.

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are designed to be safe for use in homes with children. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the electrical slots when not in use, which helps protect children from electric shock if they try to insert an object. While they are the safest option available and highly effective, it's important to note that few things are truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug. For this reason, it's best to use tamper-resistant outlets over less effective solutions like plastic covers, which can be removed or pose a choking hazard. Always supervise young children around any electrical outlets or devices.
