Lily Pad was founded in 1995 and incorporated in 2001 by our founder Robert W. Bellek. He had a vision to design and create water gardens, water features, ponds, waterfalls, streams, fountains, and natural pools with a combination of his unique creativity and using Mother Nature's beauty as a guide. Bringing water to the landscape by protecting the integrity of the land and the environment was his key to success. This simple formula and the commitment to provide the very best craftsmanship and use of the highest quality materials on the market today have made us the best in the water feature industry to date.

"I had framing issues re-corrected on a new construction 2 family dwelling. Terry and his framer "Brasil" did quality work by re-framing the ceiling and the arch on the 2nd floor balcony. They did structural repairs and corrections since the previous framers botched up the house.  Terry was responsive and helpful throughout the whole ordeal. I would definitely recommend TMC Construction for general contracting issues. They do neat and quality work at a reasonable price. Also, it is a plus that he is aware and knowledgeable with the framing codes  Jersey City enforces. He made sure everything was done correctly for the framing to pass inspection.

Fountains questions, answered by experts

Lifespans vary by material and manufacturer, but pond liners last anywhere from 10 to 75 years. For example, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pond liners have a life expectancy of up to 20 years. Other types of pond liners, including those made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), can last 40 to 50 years.

You can choose several types of fountains to add to your backyard, ranging in size, number of basins, and special water features.

Check out the price ranges of common fountain types:

  • Birdbath fountains: $40 to $1,100

  • Cascading fountains: $40 to $2,000

  • Tiered fountains: $100 to $6,000

  • Kugel fountains: $150 to $5,000

  • Glass wall fountains: $100 to $3,000

While they’re popular and have a lot of pros, the cons of river rocks include the following:

  • River rocks don’t break down or provide nutrients to plants.

  • These stones can get hot and scorch nearby plants.

  • River stones may heat the surrounding soil to inhospitable temperatures.

  • Rocks can block rainwater from seeping into the ground if installations are too thick or tightly packed.

Most downsides occur when using river rock as mulch in gardens and flower beds. However, you can still incorporate river rocks into your landscape as long as you use them in the correct ways.

In short, yes, a pond can add to your home’s value. However, whether it adds value will depend on the condition and aesthetic of your pond. Having this feature already built into a yard’s home can be appealing to homebuyers who value its aesthetic and would prefer not to build it themselves. But if it is not kept in good condition, it could turn buyers away.

Placing your water feature in direct sun can speed up evaporation, leading to pump damage and algae growth. Shade or partial shade serves as the ideal location for most water features—just watch out for tree and plant debris that may fall in and clog the pump.
