"The hutch that was refinished had been in our family for over 50 years so I was a bit nervous going through a refinishing process which included stripping it completely down to the bare wood. However, the end result far exceeded my expectations. It came out absolutely beautiful. Gerardo is a master craftsman who takes tremendous pride in his work. We also had a dining room table that had sustained water damage from ceiling leak. Gerardo was able to match the existing stain to a point where it looks brand new. I would highly recommend Diaz Furniture Repair for your next project."

"
  1. Mike the owner was great. He was very punctual and gave me the best price for a top quality carpet.
He would always answer and return phone calls, and even met me again for  a second remeasure to make sure of the size.
  1. His team came early in the morning and stayed most of the day to complete a big job.. They were very polite, clean, and worked efficient.

I would definitely recommend the company, and use them again in the future."

"Excellent experience and loved the outcome. We installed window treatments all over the house. LnL interior design was so easy to work with, they designed every room’s window treatment for me, installation was very quick and everyone who comes over comments on how beautiful the work is. Will definitely use them again and highly recommend to others."

"Frank Tedeschi and his men did an amazing job. The buffet had sustained substantial damage, both to the interior (drawer and frame crushed by an unsecured heavy shelf board) and the exterior (multiple scratches and dents, and two drawer faces that required replacing). Frank went to a great deal of trouble to match the wood that needed replacing, and the repaired and refinished piece looks as if it had never been damaged in the first place. We are more than delighted with the result! Frank and his crew had previously done a great job stripping and refinishing a large mid-century book/display shelf for us."

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

The best way to test the quality of a leather couch is to put your hands on it. If the upholstery is soft and warm, that’s a good indication that the quality is higher. It should also smell like traditional leather. If it smells like chemicals, you’re probably dealing with low-grade leather.

Reupholstering an old or antique chair can be worthwhile if the frame is still sturdy and the piece has sentimental or monetary value. Reupholstery often costs less than buying a high-quality new chair, and you can customize the look. However, extensive repairs or rare fabrics may increase the total cost.

Doing your own upholstery work is possible, but it’s typically a better idea to leave the work to professionals. Without experience and the proper tools, it’s difficult to get a professionally finished appearance for your furniture, and many DIYers end up spending money on tools and materials only to hire a professional when they can’t get the fabric to look right. If you have reupholstery experience, feel free to give it a shot. However, if you’re not confident in your skill level or you’re working with antiques, it’s worth the money to hire a pro.

Yes, you can reupholster antique furniture, and it’s a great way to extend the life of your pieces and keep them looking fresh and new for years to come. In fact, since reupholstering furniture is significantly more affordable than replacing it, reviving antique furniture can be a cost-effective way to keep that family heirloom usable for much longer. It’s usually a good idea to leave antique reupholstering to a professional, as they will have the tools and expertise to ensure the piece isn’t damaged and looks professionally finished.

Ongoing maintenance of your leather furniture is the only way to prevent it from peeling and cracking. Real leather will peel and crack as it dries out. Leather conditioners are a great way to protect your leather furniture from drying out, and you’ll need to apply it about twice each year. It’s also a good idea to keep abrasive materials away from your leather to prevent cracking and peeling, including belt buckles, shoes, and multi-surface cleaners, especially those that contain alcohol.
