"Excellent! Everyone showed up as promised, and the work was thorough and professional. I love the results, the house sparkles, the gutters flow clean. The price was right, and they delivered. Plus, they are a very attentive crew, and the owner Chris goes out of his way to make sure the job was well done. Thank you for the excellent service!"
"I was pleased with the rate I was charged. The rate did not change half way into the job. I was not price gouged. The work turned out to be more then perfect. They was here every day at the same time.. They cleaned before they left"
"Gregg did a terrific job repairing railing and boards on our old deck, He and Chris worked non-stop on the blazing 90 degree days we had. He is always willing to go the extra bit and pointed out some things we were not aware of.Very Honest, Knowledgeable, Organized, Neat and Helpful. Highly Recommend. Would do 10 stars if I could."
"I discovered Rick's Handyman by posting on Nextdoor Neighborhood website looking some someone to clean gutters. He responded and cam out the same day to give us an estimate. We ended up using him to not only clean our very clogged home gutters but also to power-wash/clean our patio which had very dirty dark pavers with algae/moss growing on and in between the stones. He did both jobs extremely well. Everything now looks great out back and our gutters worked properly in recent heavy rain. Rick is a nice guy to do business with, did great work for us, was reliable, and charged us a fair price for his services. We are likely to reach out to him for miscellaneous other handyman jobs we need done! Thanks."
"I had an amazing experience working with Mike, the owner of this company—professional, skilled, and incredibly efficient. He installed a new kitchen faucet for me, and the job was done flawlessly. Not only was the installation clean and precise, but he also took the time to ensure everything was functioning perfectly before wrapping up. It’s rare to find someone who takes so much pride in their work, and his attention to detail truly showed.
Even more impressive was the transformation he did in my bathroom. He converted my single-sink vanity into a beautiful double-sink setup, complete with a new mirror and lighting fixtures. The entire space looks like it came out of a design magazine! He handled everything—from plumbing to electrical—with confidence and care. If you’re looking for someone reliable, trustworthy, and extremely capable, this is the person to call. I can’t recommend him enough!"
"Jose and his team were thorough, clean, organized, and executed to perfection. He came in on budget and ahead of schedule. We will be using Jose and his team for all future jobs."
"We were searching for someone to paint our aged wooden deck...it needed a complete make-over. We contacted Jonathan for a quote and he responded in a very timely manner and answered every question we had. After comparing his quote with a couple of others, we found his price to be reasonable and so we hired him to power wash, sand and paint our deck. Jonathan was punctual, extremely polite and respectful and a hard worker. He communicated with us throughout the project and did a fantastic job, taking care and pride in his work. We are very happy with the results and Shaker Flooring and Paint will be our go-to for any future home painting projects. I highly recommend this business!"
The cost to repair a deck is between $900 and $3,500, depending on the cause and extent of the damage. For example, fixing a sinking deck caused by pest damage can cost between $200 and $600, while replacing sinking boards costs between $500 and $4,000.
In most cases, sanding an old deck before staining it is necessary to achieve a decent finish. If your old deck has a relatively new stain finish on it and you're only doing touch-ups, you can generally skip the sanding part. However, if your goal is to make the deck look and function better, sanding first is a must.
The best paver for your pool deck depends on your budget, style, and how much maintenance you’re willing to invest. Granite is one of the best low-cost pavers for pool decks. It’s very slip-resistant and durable, too, making it a top pick. Travertine is a high-quality material that resists freeze-thaw cycles, looks stunning, and won’t get hot in the summer. The only downside to travertine is that it costs more than granite.
Yes. Freestanding or floating decks are exactly what the name implies—structures with their own support beams. You can build a deck yourself and place it next to a house for the illusion of a connected deck without the hassle. Or you can construct it in a separate part of your yard for a dedicated outdoor entertainment space. For the purpose of removing a freestanding deck, the steps are the same as an attached deck, but you don’t have to cut the deck away from the home.
Rotting wood, loose railings, or unstable stairs may indicate a need for expertise.
