He explained everything (sometimes twice) so we could understand. They were honest, up front, and were able to fix the flue liner and install flashing same day (yes, I learned new words today!). "Safety First was terrific. I went on another site to search for chimney sweeps in my area and came up with several names. When I posted something about needing a chimney sweep, Vincent from Safety First was the first person and first company to respond (within about 3 minutes). Vincent offered to come up to my town, which is probably about 45 minutes from where he is based, but the weather and driving conditions were bad, so we scheduled an appointment for the next morning. Vincent worked hard-- it takes someone who is strong to force the piping up into the flue to clear the blockage. Vincent also vacumed the flue and checked it later to make sure it was venting properly. He was very polite and conscientious- he called to tell me when he was on his way, showed me his business card when he arrived, cleaned up after himself, and was honest. I had been told by someone else that I needed to replace my furnace, which kept shutting itself off. It turns out the furnace has a safety mechanism that shuts down the gas/heating function if the furnace detects that it is getting too hot or there is a problem with insufficient ventilation. Because Safety First cleared the blocked flue, my furnace is now able to heat my house and there is no need for it to shut itself off. I would have had Safety First install the replacement furnace, and told Vincent that already, so by telling me my equipment did not need to be replaced he actually is cutting himself off from a job I otherwise would have been glad to give him. If I need any chimney/fireplace work done in the future I will contact Safety First and not need to look elsewhere."

The team was very professional and courteous, and the team lead was particularly amazing. "The service was provided shortly after I purchased the deal and there were no additional charges but they came back and did some additional work for me. The service was fine and they resolved the problem but I ended up getting a larger job done after that. They took pictures of my chimneys and showed me the pictures. They were concerned about the deterioration in one of the chimneys that went to the furnace so they did the service."

From the beginning of the project at the showroom to the installation, they provided good communication and kept us up to date with delivery, provided a 3rd-party inspector to check out our chimney, and when they would be coming out to install the unit. At the showroom, they spent a lot of time with us to pick out the right unit for our space, and were patient with all of our questions. The insert provides the heat that we expected, and is a wonderful addition to our living room space. We use it almost daily from November through March, and to date, we've never had an issue. East Coast Energy recommends an annual cleaning as well, and we do as well - their service is very thorough, and while we've never had a problem, it's good piece of mind when working with gas in your living space.

"Really, really well. Adam + 1 did a thorough inspection and documented the areas in need of repair (photos provided). We have a large house with a mostly shingle roof and several flat areas with rubberized coating protecting them. Adam carefully explained what was going on--he had detected the water intrusion area independent of me telling him of the earlier problem. He explained our repair options and showed what the minimum needed work would be to repair the area where the metal flashing was missing and what might be necessary once they started the repair. He also explained the two possible rubber coating materials for the flat roof sections and how what was already there was deteriorating. The better coating was only $100 more so that was a no-brainer. I gave him the go-ahead and they came back a few days later to do the work. The leak area didn't require the more extensive repair it could have but there was some rot in the plywood decking when they removed the shingles. They cut out and replaced that area at no extra charge. They used tar to seal all the areas where the flat roof met the walls of the house, then rolled on the silver-gray rubber coating. It looks great and should protect that area for at least 5 years. Overall a really great experience."

"Suggested that I needed a new furnace (because of the age). I don't remember any suggestions to having my chimney checked for any blockages( of which I have now learned later could be the source of my problem) before purchasing a new gas furnace). He did not spend any time talking about what furnaces they sell or installation prices - which was good because I did not feel any pressure to purchase anything). On hindsight, I wished that he had pulled out the burner and checked for any dirty ports, etc. (which the utility company used to do whenever I needed service) as part of the diagnostic labor.) He did spend the time allotted as per the Angie's list deal. I did request an estimate for a new gas furnace of which he provided 2 days later. I must say their response time was excellent - After I paid for the Angie's list deal (on a Saturday-12/10/16), their company called me no more than 15 mins later plus I was able to get an appointment on that Monday (12/12/16)!! The tech/salesperson was polite and professional."
