"Matt came to us with a great cost estimate and was very honest and up front about the pricing. He explained all of the options we had and budgeted us for a certain dollar amount per project so we could adjust it as necessary. He didn't mind when I did my own "independent research" and came back to him with tile questions, paint questions, opinions on 10-lit vs 15-lite doors, and helped us fit the projects into our budgets. His crew as professional and neat, and they even took time out to educate my about the process and what they were doing each day. I learned a lot and we now have a wonderful shower and matching tiled tub, a beautiful open air basement room which was once two, and french doors to keep our heating costs down for the rest of the winter! We only wish we had put those doors in sooner! This is a local, family-run business, and Matt deals with local vendors and manufacturers. He made crucial decisions to change vendors when the original ones could not meet the timelines, and we appreciated that a lot. We are going to use him again for some outdoor porch and deck projects this summer."

Small jobs welcome

"Phenomenal job.. I had McAdams install French drains around my house after experiencing flooding in my basement for the first time in 16 years. After the install they expertly landscaped the part of the yard where they excavated and it looks great. I had obtain multiple quotes from other companies who came in very high and offered only one solution. Rowan took the time to listen to me and offer up various solutions. I felt comfortable and trusting of Rowan. _single mother here) Both he and his dad are great guys, very easy ti work with and most of all honest. I definitely will go to them for any future work needed as you should too.miche"

Drain Pipe Installation FAQs, answered by experts

If the drain is frozen, the pipes connecting to the washing machine are likely frozen. If the hot water trick doesn’t also unfreeze the washing machine pipes, you can gently apply heat with a hair dryer on the lowest setting. Start at the end of the pipe closest to the faucet to prevent pressure from building in the pipes, and make sure the faucet is open to drain the water as it melts.

A clogged air gap can cause a dishwasher not to drain. There are, however, other potential issues that can lead to improper drainage. For example, if you have attached the air gap to a garbage disposal and forgotten to remove the knockout plug, wastewater may backflow into the dishwasher. Check that the air gap is installed properly, and then look for clogs in the air gap and dishwasher filters.

Yes, frozen pipes can cause a toilet to stop working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which can lead to two main problems. First, the supply line to the toilet tank may be frozen, which prevents the tank from refilling with water after you flush. Second, the drain pipe itself can freeze, blocking water from flushing away. As a temporary solution for a non-refilling tank, you can manually add water, but this is not a long-term fix. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try pouring warm water into the toilet bowl or tank and then flushing, as the warm water may help thaw the ice blockage. Ultimately, the best course of action is to unfreeze the affected pipes to restore your toilet to full functionality.

The most common cause of a clogged sump pump is natural debris buildup. As water enters the sump pit, it can carry small pieces of debris that build up over time, or the debris can get caught in the filter. If you forget to cover the pit after cleaning the sump pump and pit, debris can also collect in the pit. Corrosion on the metal discharge pipe can also clog the pump. Additionally, if your pipes freeze, it can prevent water from draining properly and cause a clog.

For disposal clogs with standing water, use a sink plunger and place it over the garbage disposal drain. Push the sink plunger up and down the drain about six to eight times before lifting. If the sink drains, the clogged food particles are dislodged from the drain. If there’s still standing water, repeat the steps until the standing water clears out.
