"This job was to remove textured paint from the ceilings in 3 rooms, approx. 750 square feet. The crew showed up promptly, and took time to prep the entire work area. The job was ~3 days' work, including re-painting the ceilings. After completion, I noticed some missed spots, likely due to lighting in the house. The company promptly fixed the issues I pointed out, and I'm satisfied with the results. Would definitely hire again."

"From the start, it was easy to work with Bill. He was on time for his appointment to give us an estimate for ceiling repair and a paint job for our bathroom. Bill clearly explained a couple of ways to address our needs, and outlined the cost. He completed the work within the time frame he promised, and he kept everything clean. And that was no small feat considering the amount of sanding he needed to do. Bill left plenty of paint for any future touch-up needs. The bathroom looks fantastic. He was quick to return calls and e-mails. All in all, it was a good experience working with Bill, as his word is good, and his work is excellent."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Opt for an interior wood stain that is rated for your type of wood. Consider your personal style preferences as well as the overall use of the room when choosing a color. Remember, the color you see at the store may look different on your actual floors once applied. This is why if you have the chance, it’s helpful to test a few options on a scrap piece of wood in the room first. Once you narrow it down, you can test a small patch on an inconspicuous area in the room to see it on the actual floors.

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.

Painting or staining protects fences from environmental damage, enhances durability, and improves curb appeal with a fresh, customized look.

DIY is possible with proper tools and knowledge, but professionals can ensure even application and high-quality results, saving time and hassle.

The number of coats you need to apply when whitewashing a surface depends on how opaque you want the final product to be. If you're going for a transparent, barely there look, a single coat or two may suffice. For fuller coverage, you'll want to use multiple coats. Another option is to use a less diluted paint to get a thicker coverage.
