The crew performed their work in a timely and professional fashion. They were very respectful, personable, dedicated, and their workmanship is top notch, as is the quality of the materials. Moisture issues caused by leaky pipes, improper drainage, and poor airflow create environments that are ideal for termites to thrive in. Dampwood termites prefer water-damaged wood while subterranean termites require moist environments to survive. Climate can have an impact as well, with termites preferring to live in warm and humid climates with mild temperatures year-round. The cockroach most easily confused with water bugs is the Oriental cockroach, for several reasons. Their shape is most similar to a water bug, and they’re notorious for seeking out and living near water. If you capture one of these bugs close to a water supply, you can quickly tell if it’s an Oriental roach or a water bug. These roaches are a darker color, and they cannot fly, while water bugs are a lighter brown and can fly to escape.

Skunks spray as a defense mechanism to ward off predators. The active ingredient in their sulfurous, oily musk is n-butyl mercaptan, which evaporates into a powerful and smelly gas. Once the spray hits the skunk’s target, the stench can linger for days, and water and common cleaning kits aren’t enough to wash it away.

If you happen upon a skunk in your yard, try to back away slowly to reduce the chance of them aiming at you. Encouragingly, they don’t use their weapon casually, as it can take up to 10 days for their life-saving weaponry to refill. Paw stamping, hissing, lifting their tail, and arching their back are early signs they feel trapped or under threat and that it’s time to make a careful retreat.

They can also find their way to your hairbrushes and anywhere you’ve shed dandruff. It’s important to keep pillowcases, sheets and brushes clean to avoid making your bed hospitable for unwanted guests.

Fleas can live a few days to about two weeks without a host. Adult fleas have less survival time than eggs, larvae, and pupae do. It's possible for flea pupae to lay dormant and live for up to a year in optimal conditions. Cleaning and treating flea infestations is essential to prevent pupae from having the suitable conditions that allow them to survive without a host.
