"Ottis was very prompt from the start. I went to three other companies before going to Chappell Plumbing and they all just looked at my situation of drainage and no grease trap and just gave me and a guess on estimated cost, Ottis came out and actually took measurements and asked questions and listened to my needs for my business. After a day he contacted me with an actual quote and which was the best price then the previous companies. Once a date was set for repairs of drainage and adding a grease trap and also adding clean out access for better maintenance. He worked steadily, was done about 8 hours and cleaned up afterwards too. Iâ m very pleased and actually trying to find other plumbing needs to call him back out for more work and improvements to my business."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

A plumber can get to the bottom of your smelly drain and clean it with specialized jets, hoses, and drain-safe cleaning solutions. It is also smart to call in a plumber if you suspect your drain smell is coming from a stubborn clog or even a leaky pipe.

While you don’t have to run out and immediately buy a new toilet at the first sign of a clog, if the toilet keeps clogging because it’s a low-flow or poorly designed model, a new toilet may be the way to go. If your toilet keeps clogging, you can try using less toilet paper, adjusting the fill valve, checking the toilet vent pipe on the roof, and using a toilet auger to make sure nothing is stuck in the pipe or trap.

Baking soda and vinegar is a great solution for cleaning your sink drain; in fact, it’s our preferred method. Here’s how to unclog your drain with baking soda and vinegar: Pour in a half cup of baking soda, then 1 cup of white vinegar, and let the two bubble for 15 minutes. Then rinse out with boiling water. This method is much safer than using a chemical drain cleaner gel.

This depends on the location of the blockage. If the blockage is in your home’s system, anywhere in the system, it is your responsibility as a homeowner. Blockages seldom happen because of items or buildup coming from the city, which means it originates in the home. It becomes the city’s responsibility at the exact point your home’s line distributes waste into the city’s system. The exception is if the problem in your home damages the city lines.

If the drain is frozen, the pipes connecting to the washing machine are likely frozen. If the hot water trick doesn’t also unfreeze the washing machine pipes, you can gently apply heat with a hair dryer on the lowest setting. Start at the end of the pipe closest to the faucet to prevent pressure from building in the pipes, and make sure the faucet is open to drain the water as it melts.
